    About Green Guerillas

Green Guerillas grows community, garden by garden. We have been helping people cultivate community gardens, sustain grassroots groups, grow food, engage youth, and address issues critical to the future of food justice and urban agriculture for over 50 years.

    Opportunity Overview

We’re seeking an experienced fundraising consultant or consulting team to help execute key aspects of our development strategy in the second half of 2025. This includes managing foundation and government grants, coordinating our two annual giving campaigns, and advising on fundraising strategy during a time of leadership transition. We are looking for someone who can operate independently while collaborating with staff and the Board. With a grants calendar, donor database, and recent successful materials already in place, we’re ready for a consultant who can not only execute, but also help us plan and grow.

    Scope of Work

    1.Foundation & Government Grants

    • Using organizational grants calendar, draft and submit grant renewal requests
    • Identify new foundation and government grant opportunities aligned with our mission and programs
    • Draft and submit compelling LOIs and grant proposals for new opportunities
    • Track and complete timely grant reports in coordination with staff
    • Maintain a grants calendar and coordinate internal deadlines

    2.Individual Giving

Fall Harvest Celebration Appeal (Planning: July; Implementation: August–October)

Year-End Fundraising Appeal (Planning: October; Implementation: November–December)

    • Develop a messaging for our year-end appeal (print and digital)
    • Draft copy for direct mail, email, and social media
    • Coordinate design and production
    • Coordinate list pulls and mailing with Operations Coordinator
    • Work with Operations Coordinator to ensure all gifts are recorded and acknowledged

    3.Development Strategy and Planning

    • Assess current development practices and recommend improvements
    • Identify opportunities for donor growth and retention, major giving, or planned giving
    • Support staff and Board in developing a short-term fundraising strategy
    • Advise on donor communications cadence and CRM (Airtable) usage
    • Help lay groundwork for 2026 priorities or potential staff development hire

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including grant writing and individual donor engagement
    • Demonstrated success securing foundation or government grants
    • Experience with grassroots, community-based organizations, experience with youth development, urban agriculture or environmental justice is a strong plus
    • Project management experience — organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented
    • Familiarity with donor CRMs (we use Airtable)
    • Experience advising small nonprofits on building or evolving their development strategy
