    Description

    The Senior People and Culture Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the People and Culture team. The coordinator is responsible for various tasks, including onboarding, recruitment, employee recordkeeping, report generation, database management, payroll data input and assisting with other related duties. They act as a point of contact for employees and potential hires, addressing inquiries and guiding them through HR processes.

    Someone with a strong foundation in HR, people operations and HRIS/payroll systems.

    This role is ideal for someone who is excited to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, someone who enjoys building structure, solving challenges, and supporting both individuals and teams through growth and change.

    Principal Responsibilities:

    HR Administration

    • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping and documentation, maintaining accurate, confidential employee data across all systems.
    • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
    • Track and support compliance requirements across HR, finance, and legal functions, including audits, policy acknowledgments, and labor law postings.
    • Help coordinate and communicate policy and benefits updates to support employee understanding and adoption.
    • Support payroll processing and other administrative functions that ensure the smooth, accurate, and consistent implementation of policies and benefits.
    • Ensure payroll information is accurate and all related reports/information is in order.
    • Provide support in talent acquisition activities, including the maintenance of job descriptions, coordination of interview schedules, and facilitation of candidate communication.

    People Operations

    • Lead and manage key employee programs and processes, including onboarding, offboarding, hiring, performance management tracking.
    • Support the design and implementation of people policies, programs, and processes that help staff feel valued and supported and allow them to succeed, grow, and contribute meaningfully as Personified team members.
    • Facilitate recurring team check-ins to align on priorities, share updates, and foster collaboration.
    • Develop, maintain, and update internal documentation and resources to ensure clarity, consistent implementation, and access for all staff.
    • Assist in driving the annual performance review process, including gathering reviews, tracking scores, and ensuring timely submissions.
    • Maintain and deliver reports related to P&C metrics to support leadership
    • Talent Acquisition Support (requisitions, offer letters/PAFs, advertising)

    Leadership, Collaboration, and Organizational Improvement

    • Collaborate across departments to align workflows, address shared challenges, and ensure people operations are integrated with broader organizational goals.
    • Lead the rollout of new tools, processes, and policies by planning implementation, communicating clearly, and supporting staff through transitions.
    • Help identify and implement improvements to HR systems, tools, and workflows that make people processes more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly.
    • Collaborate with leaders and staff across departments to support change management efforts and ensure a positive experience during periods of growth or transition.
    • Assists with special projects and contributes to team efforts to accomplish related results as needed.
    • Liaise with staff in Finance as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Certification in Human Resources and/or related professions (SPHR/PHR or GPHR) preferred
    • At least three or more years’ experience in people and culture and finance, ideally in either progressive movement/social change organizing or a nonprofit.
    • Proven experience in nonprofit HR/people administration and compliance.
    • Demonstrate sound judgment, flexibility and patience; exercise discretion in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive matters – both internally and externally.
    • Strong interpersonal/communication skills, and critical thinking skills required.
    • Strong project management skills - highly organized, impeccable time management skills, detail oriented, ability to consistently meet deadlines, and move and follow up on action items.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, and work accurately under deadlines and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment.
    • Strong writing and editing skills.
    • Familiarity with payroll processing systems
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, diplomacy, and discretion.
    • Team player with the capacity to be resourceful and flexible.
    • Commitment to advancing economic and race and gender justice.

    This Position Reports to: Director of People & Culture

    Supervisory Responsibility: No

    Travel Requirements: Periodic

    Salary and Benefits: Salary range of $85,000 - $95,000 annually. Community Change also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1 and a Summer Break the week of July 4th; 8% employer contribution to a retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); cell phone and internet stipend; and a choice of generous health insurance plans.

    Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is not included in Community Change's bargaining unit.

    Location: This is a remote position, with the ability to be based anywhere in the U.S. Staff based outside of the D.C. area work from home offices or from designated shared office spaces. Eastern time zone hours preferred.
