    Working in the New York office of the Tianjin-Juilliard School, the Library Cataloging Assistant is responsible for cataloging scores and books for the Tianjin-Juilliard Library; manages shipments of materials to Tianjin, maintains spreadsheets of purchases and gifts; manages acquisitions of materials for the TJS library; attends weekly meetings of the NY-based Tianjin team. Works closely with the Director of the Tianjin-Juilliard Library.

    The salary for this role is $58,000.00 annually.

    Role Responsibilities:

    • Perform original and copy cataloging of library scores and books for the Tianjin-Juilliard Library.
    • Work closely with other library catalogers.
    • Manage acquisitions for the TJS Library.
    • Maintain spreadsheets for tracking of all purchases and gifts.
    • Prepare shipments of materials to Tianjin.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in music.
    • Experience with original and copy cataloging on OCLC; knowledge of AACR2 , RDA, international cataloging principles and practices, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and other relevant tools.
    • Foreign language facility, especially bibliographic knowledge of German, French and Italian.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to function efficiently within a busy and demanding work environment.
    • Knowledge of music reference sources.
    • Strong commitment to library service.

    Preferred Background:

    • Experience with music library cataloging and technical services.
    • Master’s degree in music.
    • ALA-accredited M.L.S. degree
