    Description

    Join our mission to share the joy and power of reading. New Haven Reads is seeking an Assistant Education Director to help lead our structured literacy tutoring programs. This role is ideal for an educational leader eager to further their coaching and instructional skills. You’ll work closely with the Education Director to support programming, build team capacity, and strengthen outcomes for our aspiring readers.

You will foster strong relationships and facilitate collaborative efforts with community partners, programs, and local schools to achieve shared goals while serving New Haven’s vibrant community,

    Key Responsibilities

    • Program & Instructional Leadership
      • Support structured literacy tutoring aligned with the Science of Reading
      • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, programs and schools
      • Conduct site visits, observations, and model best practices
      • Administer CORE Testing and co-lead tutor trainings
      • Collaborate with Pre-K/K team on curriculum and communication
    • Organizational & Team Development
      • Meet weekly with Site Directors and Education staff
      • Develop training content and lead internal workshops
      • Interview and support college tutors and interns
      • Help maintain cross-site alignment and staff communication
    • Data, Administration & Communication
      • Use Salesforce and Lexia for student and program data
      • Maintain waitlists, program calendars, and documentation
      • Attend PPT Meetings
      • Ensure timely, professional communication with stakeholders

    What We’re Looking For

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education (structured literacy preferred)
    • 2–3 years of youth education experience (underserved settings preferred)
    • Growth mindset, strong organization, and communication skills
    • Familiarity with Salesforce, Lexia, Microsoft Office, and Box
    • Spanish fluency preferred
