    Description

JCCGCI provides a wide spectrum of older adult, vocational, educational, mental health, anti-violence and community revitalization services throughout New York City. We alleviate the health-related and economic struggles of those who need it most. Our programs are available to all segments of the population serving the city’s frail elderly, vocationally disadvantaged poor, underprivileged immigrants and educationally at-risk youth populations to help successfully address the challenges they encounter and attain independence with dignity.

JCCGCI is seeking a Grant Writer who will be responsible for researching, developing, writing, and submitting compelling grant proposals to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other funding sources. This role works closely with program, grant management and finance staff to ensure alignment between funding opportunities and organizational priorities, producing accurate, persuasive, and timely submissions that advance the mission and strategic goals of the organization.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify prospective funding sources through research using databases, websites, and professional networks.
    • Analyze grant guidelines to determine alignment with organizational programs and goals.
    • Maintain an updated grants calendar, tracking deadlines, and reporting requirements.
    • Prepare high-quality, tailored grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
    • Collaborate with program staff to gather relevant data, statistics, outcomes, and impact stories.
    • Ensure proposals are compelling, accurate, and meet funder requirements.
    • Edit and proofread all grant-related documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and professionalism.
    • Track submitted proposals and monitor funding decisions.
    • Coordinate with finance staff to develop budgets and ensure compliance with funding guidelines.
    • Prepare and submit progress reports and final reports to funders.
    • Maintain thorough grant files and records in accordance with organizational policies.
    • Cultivate relationships with program officers, funders, and donors.
    • Represent the organization at funder meetings, site visits, and networking events.
    • Collaborate with the development team on overall fundraising strategy and donor stewardship.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
    • Minimum 2–3 years of proven grant writing experience in the nonprofit sector.
    • Track record of securing funding from diverse sources, including government, corporate, and private foundations.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
    • Strong research skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of budgeting processes and grant compliance requirements.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Full time or part-time. Full time annual salary $75,000-$95,000.
