    Description

    The Opportunity

    The Visual Arts Center of Richmond boasts a 60-year history of providing educational art curriculum to greater Richmond area. The Education Coordinator reports to the Director of Education and supports the overall success and execution of VisArts' education programs including ArtVenture, the summer arts program for children. This role provides administrative support to the Director of Education, the Education team, teachers and students.

    The ideal candidate will possess excellent administrative problem-solving ability and deliver both speed and accuracy with organizational and Excel spreadsheet capabilities. Excellent communication skills and the ability to successfully interact with a variety of people is also a key success factor for the position.

    Essential Program Support For:

    Education Team Support

    • Keeps track of receipts for Director of Education, codes and submits them at the middle and end of each month.
    • Assists Education Manager in teacher make-up classes and substitute needs.
    • Supports Education interns.
    • In cooperation with the education and development staff, assists with community events like Craft + Design, Collector's Night, gallery openings, the annual teacher party, etc.

    Class Catalog and Teacher Support

    • Completes data entry processes within our registration system including uploading all class catalog content and updating teacher profiles.
    • Assists in completing data entry processes for our HR portal like uploading contracts and other policy documents.
    • Coordinates online class technology needs including setting zoom profiles for instructors, scheduling zoom meetings, and downloading recordings.
    • Assists in ensuring our studio and classroom schedules are up to date in Outlook and Acuity; ensures class bookings are accurate based on program plans from the education team, reserves and/or approves requests for studio spaces for other events and from other departments.
    • Completes teacher supply order process which includes tracking packages, organizing packages, and alerting teachers when orders are received.

    Student Support

    • Sends communications for class confirmations and cancellations.
    • Sends weekly communications to students including studio access login information and end-of-class surveys.
    • ArtVenture Summer Programming Support
    • Acts as lead or back up for certain days of ArtVenture, with support from the education team.
    • Supports Artventure summer programming by creating and printing class rosters, pulling reports, and sending weekly parent communication emails.

    Compensation Package Includes

    • Starting salary of $40,000-45,000

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment as well as studios spaces and classrooms. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

    Physical Demands

    This job will require both office work as well as plenty of physical activity overseeing students and volunteers throughout the VisArts facility. The ability to walk, lift boxes and stand for long periods of time is required.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    Average Hours of Work per week

    It is expected that the position will work 40 hours per week.

    Required Education and Experience

    • High school diploma
    • Curiosity/enthusiasm for the arts and/or arts education
    • Prior office administrative experience
    • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in an arts, education, nonprofit, or related field
    • Previous administrative experience in an educational or not for profit environment
    • Familiarity with arts and crafts media, materials, and practices
