    Turning Green is seeking a skilled Web Development & Design Contractor to support Project Green Challenge. This role offers the opportunity to lead website improvements—elevating digital storytelling, optimizing user experience, and strengthening our global mission online.

    What You’ll Do

    As a Web Development & Design Contractor, you will reimagine and enhance the digital experience of the Project Green Challenge platform.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Auditing existing sites and recommending improvements or full redesigns as needed to enhance user experience and functionality
    • Redesigning and reorganizing navigation menus, page layouts, and content structures for seamless, intuitive user experiences
    • Refreshing or reimagining visual elements (typography, colors, buttons, icons) while ensuring responsive design across all devices and screen sizes
    • Maintaining consistent branding and optimizing accessibility, performance, and load speed
    • Implementing interactive features, new functionality, and custom content pages to support campaigns and program needs
    • Troubleshooting technical issues, conducting site testing, and ensuring high performance and reliability across browsers
    • Collaborating with the communications and web teams to align design decisions with user needs, digital strategy, and storytelling goals

    Required Qualifications

    • Degree or equivalent experience in Web Design, Digital Media, Computer Science, or related field
    • Demonstrated experience designing and developing websites (please include sample work with your application)
    • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and WordPress; familiarity with JavaScript, Figma, or Adobe XD is a plus
    • Strong eye for clean, accessible, intuitive design and user experience
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
    • Alignment with Turning Green’s mission and values—passion for sustainability, youth leadership, and impactful design

    Project Green Challenge (PGC) is Turning Green’s flagship initiative—an annual 30-day global call to action that engages students in transformative daily challenges throughout October. The program builds knowledge, fosters agency, and inspires bold action on critical issues such as climate justice, ethical consumption, food systems, and public health. Since its launch in 2011, PGC has activated more than 342,000 students across 180+ countries and culminates in an in-person summit where finalists collaborate, lead, and scale their impact.
