    PART-TIME RECEPTIONIST

    Art House Astoria – Astoria, NY

    OVERVIEW

    Art House Astoria is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit music and art conservatory dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality arts education for students of all ages and abilities. We offer private lessons and group classes in music, visual art, and theater from our location in Astoria, Queens, and through partnerships with local schools and community organizations.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    We’re looking for a reliable, organized, and personable individual to join our front desk team as a part-time receptionist on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 12:30pm to 8:00pm. You’ll be the first face students and families see, helping our programs run smoothly while keeping the space warm, welcoming, and on track. This position is perfect for a friendly self-starter, who is comfortable juggling multiple priorities and enjoys a mission driven environment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Greet students, families, and teachers with warmth and professionalism
    • Ensure student safety during arrivals and dismissals
    • Keep common areas tidy and welcoming
    • Answer phones, emails, and walk-in visitors courteously and efficiently
    • Act as primary point of contact for scheduling private lessons and enrolling students in group classes
    • Coordinate between families and teachers to ensure accuracy and smooth communication
    • Manage schedule changes, cancellations, and make-up lessons with clear and timely communication
    • Help on-board new families and acquaint them with Art House systems, attendance/billing policies, and scheduling procedures
    • Occasionally assist with tabling efforts at local events, engaging community members and acting as the face of Art House
    • Assist with operations during special event weeks for recitals, musicals, and Art House programs
    • Assist with opening and closing duties, including basic facilities upkeep such as light garbage duties, locking up, and monitoring cleanliness of studios and common areas

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Friendly and dependable, with excellent communication skills
    • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively
    • Proactive, self-starter; comfortable working independently
    • Flexible working in a dynamic environment; willing to support where needed
    • Experience with customer service or administrative work preferred
    • Familiarity with Google Suite and scheduling tools is a plus (training provided)
    • Interest in the arts or nonprofit work is a bonus

    SCHEDULE

    • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 12:30 PM – 8:00 PM
    • Potential extra hours outside of these times may be requested based on scheduling needs and special events

    COMPENSATION

    $17/hour
