    Description

    IMMIGRATION LAW FELLOW

    The Community Justice Project (CJP) seeks a one-year immigration law fellow for our Reading, PA office. Hybrid in-person/remote work options are available.

    The law fellow will be responsible for providing immigration legal services and holistic legal services to immigrant victims of crime, domestic violence, and trafficking. The law fellow will handle U-Visa, T-Visa, Violence Against Women Act petitions, and other affirmative petitions. Where appropriate, the law fellow may also handle appeals, EOIR motions practice, and removal defense.

    The position also involves working closely with immigrant communities and groups in the areas served. The law fellow will identify and collaborate with local social and legal services providers in Berks County and will participate in outreach events aimed at providing information on potential forms of immigration relief and on holistic legal services that CJP provides.

    The law fellow must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish and must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills. A demonstrated commitment to the low-income client community is also essential.While in-office work in our Reading, PA office is preferred, hybrid options are available.

    CJP is a statewide legal aid program that is part of Pennsylvania’s Legal Aid Network, but it does not receive Legal Services Corporation funding. It specializes in class action and other litigation and advocacy that impacts Pennsylvania’s low-income residents. CJP conducts broad advocacy in all forms and subject areas, which include civil rights, employment, housing, community development, consumer, immigration, immigrant rights, and public benefits. CJP works with local legal aid programs across the state, but it also does its own community outreach from offices in Reading, Hazleton, Scranton, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh.
