    Description

    Awamaki is seeking a motivated, independent, organized person to support our team in coordinating and aligning our most mission-centric work; fulfilling our commitments to funders; and coordinating the volunteers who come to Peru to be part of our team.

    Our ideal candidate can work fluidly alongside indigenous artisan women in their villages, Peruvian and international colleagues, and English-speaking volunteers in order to keep program goals on track and move our work forward. This is an excellent opportunity to gain management experience and take a leadership role in program strategy and implementation.

    Awamaki is a non-profit social enterprise that partners with Quechua women to preserve traditional crafts through skills based education and connection to market access through sustainable tourism and ethically-sourced crafts. Awamaki is located in Ollantaytambo, a small town in the heart of the Sacred Valley, in Cusco, Peru. Ollantaytambo is one of the most beautiful places you will ever live or visit.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Impact Project Management (40%)

    • Coordinate with team to establish annual priorities for program priorities and grant-funded projects;
    • When grants are awarded, communicate to team and enter milestones and deliverables into grant tracking spreadsheet;
    • Manage grant projects calendar for implementation and reporting of grant-funded projects;
    • In collaboration with Artisan Cooperatives Program Director, coordinate capacity-building with artisans to fulfill program priorities and grant-funded projects. Collaborate with marketing team to support external communication about this work
    • Draft updates for funders according to their requirements; collaborate with storytelling coordinator to gather content for funders
    • Coordinate with Sustainable Tourism Manager to plan volunteer service trip construction project tourism to align with grant activities;
    • Coordinate with ED and Sustainable Tourism Manager on custom visits for funders, donors and other VIP tours. Lead Behind-the-Scenes tours of the office.

    Lead impact evaluation (10%)

    • Collect impact evaluation information according to funder requirements
    • Supervise monitoring and evaluation volunteers to carry out Awamaki’s internal impact evaluation according to existing evaluation frameworks
    • Attend Monthly Marketing Meeting with Executive Director, Marketing Manager, Storytelling Coordinator and Sales Manager to help plan content sharing around impact news and stories

    Volunteer management (30%)

    • Manage idealist and Omprakash listings, keeping them updated every 1-2 months
    • Answer inquiries from potential volunteers; send information; conduct interviews; coordinate arrival; deliver volunteer cultural and organizational orientation;
    • Plan and oversee volunteer projects with coordinators and Kennedy;
    • Coordinate and oversee volunteer monthly blog posts;
    • Support staff in supervising volunteers with reminders and advocacy where necessary
    • Plan development discussions and other activities with volunteers;
    • Arrange goodbyes and conduct exit interviews.
    • Update/review Volunteer handbook & Orientation materials every year

    Tourism, Service Groups & Student Partnerships (20%)

    • Facilitate in-country service and tourism groups appx 20-45 days per year (approximately 2-4 days per month)
    • Lead virtual school partnerships
      • Collaborate remotely volunteers and team members; coordinate the production of informative and interactive content to educate and engage high school students remotely;
      • Collaborate on designing and implementing fundraising activities for students
      • Collaborate with Awamaki team to develop and communicate funding proposals for student fundraising

    Other

    • All Awamaki staff and volunteers work one shift per week in Awamaki’s fair trade store in Ollantaytambo

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • English and Spanish proficiency required
    • Proficiency in spreadsheet use
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Excellent team worker seeking collaborative and supporting relationships with colleagues
    • Motivated and driven independent worker
    • Project management experience preferred
