    THE POSITION:

    The Vice President of Data Strategy and Integrity reports to the Chief Operating and Financial Officer (COFO) with a dotted line to the President and CEO and is responsible for the strategic oversight, governance, and management of all data systems and platforms across the organization. This role ensures that data is accurate, secure, integrated, and effectively leveraged to inform decisions, drive impact, and fulfill the mission of the Foundation. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in data architecture, systems management, analytics, and cross-departmental collaboration, with a strong commitment to data equity and ethical practices.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Data Strategy & Governance

      • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with organizational goals.
      • Establish and enforce data governance policies, protocols, and standards across departments.
      • Champion data integrity and security while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

    Systems Integration & Oversight

      • Oversee the organization’s data ecosystem, including CRM (e.g., Community Suite), grantmaking platforms (e.g., GLM, SLM), fundraising databases, financial systems, and internal knowledge platforms.
      • Partner with IT, Finance, Development, Programs, and Communications to ensure system interoperability and optimal data flow.
      • Lead initiatives to streamline and modernize data infrastructure and architecture.

    Analytics & Reporting

      • Lead the development of dashboards, KPIs, and advanced analytics that support decision-making across departments.
      • Build organizational capacity to use data effectively for strategy, evaluation, fundraising, communications, and community engagement.
      • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for internal and external audiences.

    Leadership & Collaboration

      • Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, informing organizational planning and evaluation.
      • Build and manage a team of data professionals and consultants as needed.
      • Provide training and support to staff to enhance data literacy and system fluency across the organization.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

      • 10+ years of progressive experience in data strategy, analytics, and/or systems leadership, preferably in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector.
      • Demonstrated success managing complex data environments and multiple platforms.
      • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and vendor relationships.
      • Deep understanding of data ethics, data equity, and community-centered data practices.
      • Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
      • Proficiency with CRM systems (Community Suite preferred), grantmaking platforms, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
      • Strategic thinker with strong analytical acumen.
      • Collaborative leader and effective communicator.
      • Equity-driven and committed to social justice.
      • Adaptable, proactive, and solution-oriented.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    Currently full-time employees are expected to work in the BKO office located in Downtown Brooklyn Monday through Thursday with occasional events on Friday.
