    Description

    ProPublica is seeking an experienced, self-motivated and well-organized professional to join our New York headquarters as the development coordinator.

    The primary duties of the coordinator are to process donations using Salesforce, GoFundMe Pro and other fundraising tools and third-party platforms, work with the director of development services to ensure data integrity, respond to donor questions and produce acknowledgement letters. They will also assist with various donor communications, database projects, general administration for the development team and special projects as needed.

    This role will report to the director of development services and gain valuable fundraising experience from our professional and collegial development team.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Processing donations into Salesforce database from mail, third-party platforms (Benevity, Paypal, CyberGrants, YourCause, etc.) and donor-advised funds, carefully tracking contact information and donation details
    • Serving as the main point of contact for our caging service
    • Managing matching gift inquiries, confirmations and paperwork
    • Assisting with maintenance of Salesforce database, including data hygiene, reporting, page layouts, custom fields and automation
    • Communicating with donors, including troubleshooting email and phone queries
    • Producing accurate and timely acknowledgment letters
    • Assisting development staff with print mailings, both in-house and in partnership with a mail house
    • Providing general administrative support to the development staff as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines
    • Ability to apply policies and procedures to correctly process a high volume of transactions from multiple sources
    • An active, engaged approach to work demonstrated by proactivity and follow-through on assignments
    • Ability to work in a cooperative but self-directed manner
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Integrity and ability to discreetly handle confidential donor information
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Google Workspace
    • Experience with Salesforce required, proficiency with Salesforce NPSP preferred
    • Ability to travel for team meetings or trainings as required

    This job is a full-time position based in New York City and includes benefits. It is a hybrid role, with three days of in-office work per week required. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.

    The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000.

    This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a person’s experience, accomplishment and location.
