    Description

    Position Title: Parish Administrator

    Department: Business Office

    Classification: Exempt

    Direct Report: Chief of Staff, Rector

    The Parish Administrator works collaboratively with the clergy and staff to manage internal and external relations, including the Church database; welcome new families; coordinate schedules and building usage; prepare materials for staff and vestry meetings; provide pastoral support for special services; and spearhead seasonal projects. The Parish Administrator will also assist in developing communication strategies for online and in-person parish events.

    This position presents an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking to serve in a welcoming and vibrant Episcopal Church located in New York City. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong organizational and analytical skills, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to interact courteously with others.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the clergy calendars by scheduling one-on-one, small group/committee, and larger group meetings
    • Provide logistical support for programs and events by purchasing supplies, submitting paperwork, reports, and liaising with the business office
    • Assist with administrative preparation for Sunday services
    • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for pastoral services, such as weddings and funerals.
    • Work with the Rental Coordinator and the Chief of Staff to keep the Church calendar current and flag potential conflicts.
    • Coordinate Columbarium Operations and Administrative Functions
    • Help track various projects and meet deadlines
    • Provide on-site program support as needed
    • Maintain and update parish membership database
    • Manage Church phone and message system and respond to all general inquiries via email and phone

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Flexible and adaptable to new priorities
    • Ability to manage and prioritize job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
    • Occasional weekend and evening availability
    • Familiarity with the Episcopal Church is a plus
