    Description

    Youth Enrichment Services (YES) is a community-based organization whose primary mission is to empower youth through mentorship, education, and enrichment. As a 30-year-old agency, we are excited about our organizational history and are recruiting highly qualified individuals to help us chart fulfill our mission of diverting youth from the juvenile justice system.

    YES is seeking an intervention specialist to support justice-involved and pre-justice involved youth in building life skills, diverting youth from deviant behavior, and moving them toward productive lives through formal mentoring, mentoring, and programing.

    The essential functions of the role require one to:

    • Mentor, monitor and supervise pre-adjudicated youth awaiting court hearing 24-7.
    • Conduct school visits and promote school attendance, good grades, and positive behavior.
    • Conduct home visits and promote parental guidelines for youth.
    • Attend court hearings upon request.
    • Establish daily contact with all clients on caseload and support them in working toward their outlined goals.
    • Establish and maintain working relationships with personnel in Probation and Juvenile Court System.
    • Communicate with clients’ families in an effective manner.
    • Encourage clients with positive alternatives to reduce recidivism and negative behavior.
    • Encourage the establishment and enforcement of curfew requirements of clients.
    • Expose clients to cultural and recreational activities.
    • Be available for an overnight, on-call rotation schedule.
    • Promote the goals and objectives of Youth Enrichment Services.
    • Engage in case management processes and update client case files regularly.
    • Document billable service hours
    • Support gender-specific programming.
    • Connect youth to Mentoring Partnerships programming.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education/Certifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Human Development, Social Work, or other relative degree programs.
    • Current Pennsylvania Act 33/34 Clearances.
    • Current valid driver’s license and available transportation.

    Experience/Minimum Requirements

    • Two to three years of experience working with at-risk youth.

    Other Skills/Abilities

    • Familiarity with computer databases and word /google processing packages.
    • Experience implementing interventions and supporting youth goal attainment
    • Ability to compose comprehensive and thorough case notes.
    • Flexibility in schedule and approach.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment.
    • Be a positive influence to client youth.

    Working Conditions

    • Generally works in an office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Will be required to conduct work in “the field” and travel locally to schools, courts, and client homes.

    Compensation

      Compensation is commensurate with experience.
