    Description

    Urban Bridges, a small urban nonprofit in Haverhill, MA, seeks to engage an Interim Executive Director for the last quarter of 2025. Our three small and varied programs, housed in a neighborhood church, serve a multi-cultural, multi-lingual community of low-income women, children in families. This position requires a balance of two skill-sets: first, flexible, practical problem-solving to address immediate issues of office management and administrative support to the Program Directors; and second, strategic support for the Board as it envisions sustainable organizational structures and funding sources to support our important mission. The position is structured as an independent contractor, 32 hours per week at $36/hour, starting October 1. Some remote work possible. Potential for future permanent employment or contract renewal. This is an excellent opportunity for nonprofit professionals facing layoffs, or clergy with urban and nonprofit experience who enjoy working with community-oriented programs.     Key Responsibilities

      • Support and guide current staff and volunteer teams to ensure successful program implementation this Fall.
      • Partner with board members and volunteers to guide the organization in making near-term strategic decisions and developing a clear implementation plan.
      • Assess and improve office management practices, resolving issues and establishing sound, well-documented procedures.
      • Collaborate with the board, staff, and contracted program leaders to evaluate existing programs and propose improvements based on community needs and opportunities.
      • Monitor application and reporting deadlines for existing grants and ensure timely submissions.
      • Identify additional prospective funding sources, including individuals, foundations, and corporations, and develop an effective near-term plan to broaden funding base, in consultation with the board.
      • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and fiscal accountability.
