    Description

    PD Active is a small non-profit organization by and for people with Parkinson’s disease in Berkeley, Oakland, and the East Bay. PD Active is a community of people, programs and resources dedicated to supporting the physical, cognitive and emotional health of people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and their loved ones. PD Active provides activities, support and programs to a growing population affected by Parkinson’s disease. PD Active serves approximately 2,000 people in the East Bay. PD Active has a working, engaged Board of Directors.

    The Operations and Outreach Coordinator will provide critical operational and administrative support and represent PD Active in outreach in the community to promote awareness of Parkinson’s disease and the resources PD Active offers.

    This job is remote with regular need to be in Berkeley, and occasional in-person meetings and events in the East Bay area. Reports to the Executive Director.

    20-30 hours per week

    Operations

    • Support day-to-day operations of PD Active office
    • Administrative and operational support for PD Active programs
    • Monitor several email and phone channels throughout the day and manage what arises
    • Maintain PD Active online file system
    • Research/recommend/purchase equipment and services
    • Obtain and track information about new members/participants
    • Maintain PD Active calendar
    • Communicate with class instructors to keep calendar up to date
    • Print and mail “thank you” letters
    • Assist with fundraising and mailings as needed
    • Check physical mailbox in Berkeley, CA weekly and make bank deposits

    Events

    • In-person special events: support Events Committee with event set up, staff a “welcome table”; manage supplies, logistics, arrangements for venues as needed
    • Assist with registration and attendance tracking for events
    • Recruit volunteers to assist with events

    Communications & Media

    • Manage and send promotional and reminder emails
    • Maintain email lists in Constant Contact
    • Maintain and update Wordpress website
    • Maintain social media sites (e.g. Facebook)
    • Maintain YouTube video channels

    Outreach

    • Attend events and conferences on behalf of PD Active
    • Send info packets to key contacts such as medical providers and other organizations
    • Outreach and coordination with other organizations for community events

    Required Skills and Experience

    • 3+ year’s relevant experience
    • Excellent oral and written communication
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Collaborative and a demonstrated ability to work well with others
    • Able to work independently
    • Caring and compassionate
    • Detail oriented
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • Experience with or proven ability to quickly learn MS Office, GSuite, Wordpress, Constant Contact and fundraising software
    • Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs.

    Preferred Skills and Experience

    • Non-profit experience
    • Developing and maintaining community relations
    • Spanish helpful

    Flexible Hours. Some weekend work will be required to support periodic weekend events.

    Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. $28-32/hour.
