    justice organization dedicated to providing a safe space for families to play, learn, and grow

    together in the community.

    What we do: Lotus Bloom Family Resource Center provides community-based bridges to

    health, social, and learning opportunities that support caregivers in ensuring children have a

    strong start in life.

    Lotus Bloom Family Resource Center is seeking a Playgroup Facilitator/Pre-school Teacher to

    foster parent/caregiver-child interactions and build attachment and bonding programs through

    facilitating daily playgroup programs. The role involves working closely with the Site Director

    and site team members to create an engaging curriculum and plan themes that support learning

    and development.

    Most of the work is performed in a pre-school classroom environment. Because of the nature of

    this work, strong connections to the Oakland community and/or bilingual fluency in

    English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, or English/Arabic are highly valued.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    • Collaborate to plan and implement the theme-based curriculum
    • Prepare the classroom (bring out toys and art, prepare snacks, move furniture, etc.)
    • Lead and engage parents and children in activities together (art, literacy, music, etc.)
    • Assist in planning and executing program goals
    • Model and encourage behavior that promotes healthy child outcomes
    • Coordinate family engagement activities such as potlucks, field trips, and special events
    • Provide input and observations on children’s development and families’ needs to the Family Navigator/Case Manager
    • Implement family support plans with the Family Navigator/Case Manager
    • Assistance with childcare during workshops, parent meetings, and other events.
    • Collect data on participants (administer assessment tools, surveys)
    • Clean up the activity room (vacuum, sweep, wipe tables, clean toys, etc.)
    • Uphold policies (food, phones, discipline)
    • Attend bi-monthly team meetings, monthly all team meetings, and co-facilitate 1-2 All Team Meetings each year. Other training, as needed
    • Support Diaper Prep and Diaper Distribution once a month
    • Support LB community events, fundraising efforts, and pilot programs
    • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

    Skills and Qualifications include:

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching or providing childcare for children 0-5 years of age
    • Minimum of 6 units of child development coursework
    • Punctual and extremely reliable
    • Proficiency in either MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets).
    • Excellent people skills; relates well on the phone and in person; demonstrates patience, kindness, and tact in all interactions with children and parents.
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask; strong organizational skills.
    • Bilingual verbal and written skills in English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, or English/Arabic are a plus.
    • Personal alignment with Lotus Bloom’s mission. Ability to demonstrate the Mission and Values of Lotus Bloom and act as an ambassador for the organization. Must be able to present oneself and the program in a professional manner
    • Flexibility to work occasional evenings & weekends, with advanced notice
    • High School Diploma or GED required; B.A. or B.S. preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to perform the duties listed below with or without accommodation.

    • Stand, sit, kneel, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for the duration of shift.
    • Able to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.
    • Traverse safely throughout the entirety of the facility.
    • Safely lift, move, and transport items weighing up to 30 lbs.
    • Communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and during video conferences.
    • Ability to complete health screening, including TB clearance.
    • Ability to successfully complete background screening.

    • $24.00 – $24.62 hourly, 35 Hours Per Week, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am- 4:30 pm

    • 14 paid holidays, plus (some) additional downtime during program breaks, including the winter holiday season (employees generally have the option to work, use accrued vacation, or benefit from additional designated holidays, if possible, based on business needs and budget availability)
    • Accrual rate equal to approximately 10 days paid vacation 1st through 2nd year of employment, (increasing to a rate of approximately 15 days paid vacation for 3rd to 4th years)
