    Description

One Family’s philosophy is that education and career success are the foundations of lasting housing stability. Massachusetts residents face some of the highest living costs in the country, leading to some of the highest rates of family homelessness. We know that families need stable income to afford stable housing. One Family offers direct service programs aimed at breaking down barriers to higher education and family-sustaining career paths, enabling families at risk of or experiencing homelessness to achieve financial independence and afford safe housing. The organization pairs this work with public policy advocacy, working to prevent family homelessness on both an individual and systemic level.

    About the Opportunity

The Institutional Giving Manager will develop, implement, and articulate a bold and innovative strategic vision for One Family’s revenue. This role focuses on strategic growth—in influence, brand recognition, and revenue—while maintaining operational efficiency. As a member of the executive team, the Director will drive the development of plans around new strategic priorities and build dynamic new partnerships to grow and sustain the organization. This role oversees a portfolio that includes fundraising and communications. One Family has a budget of $2.8 million for fiscal year 2025. The organization is targeting $1.6 million in philanthropic revenue for this year. We are targeting close to 20% year-over-year growth in philanthropic revenue, and we seek a candidate energized by this ambitious trajectory.

The ideal candidate is an innovative, outcomes-oriented leader with a proven ability to build impactful partnerships, scale revenue, and thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven environments. They will bring fresh ideas and bold strategies to amplify One Family’s reach and revenue. The Institutional Giving Manager reports to One Family’s Director of Development & Communications and collaborates closely with the Associate Director of Development and the Communications Manager.

    Key responsibilities:

    Strategy & Prospecting

      • Research, qualify, and prioritize new institutional funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and (as applicable) government sources.
      • Maintain and grow an active portfolio of current institutional donors while building a robust prospect pipeline to help meet the organization’s ambitious foundation revenue goals.
      • Manage an annual calendar of proposal deadlines, renewal opportunities, stewardship touchpoints, and reporting requirements.

    Proposal Development & Submission

      • Lead the development of compelling letters of inquiry, proposals, and sponsorship requests, tailoring content to each prospect.
      • Collaborate with program, communications and finance teams to gather data, budgets, and impact stories for funding requests.

    Grant Management & Reporting

      • Oversee all grant tracking and reporting to ensure timely submission of proposals and funder reports.
      • Coordinate with finance and program staff to ensure compliance with funder requirements and accurate use of funds.
      • Maintain complete and up-to-date records in Salesforce, ensuring accurate tracking of deadlines, awards, and donor interactions.

    Stewardship & Relationship Management

      • Serve as the primary point of contact for institutional donors, building and sustaining strong relationships through regular communication, updates, and site visits.
      • Prepare tailored progress reports and impact updates to demonstrate results and strengthen partnerships.
      • Support cultivation activities and events to engage prospective and current institutional partners.

    Internal Coordination

      • Act as a liaison between Development, Programs, Finance, and Communications to ensure proposals and reports reflect organizational priorities and impact.
      • Keep internal stakeholders informed of deadlines, upcoming submissions, and funder expectations.

    Qualifications

There are innumerable ways to learn, grow, and excel professionally. We respect this when we review applications and take a broad look at the experience of each applicant. We want to get to know you and the unique strengths you will bring to the work. This said, we are most likely to be interested in your candidacy if you can demonstrate the majority of the qualifications and experiences listed below. Successful candidates will demonstrate deeply held respect for and understanding of the power of our programming, even if their primary professional background is in another field:

      • Strong persuasive writing, editing, and analytical skills.
      • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding ambitious foundation revenue targets.
      • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
      • Proficiency in Google Suite and Salesforce for donor and grants management.
      • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to represent the organization to external partners.
