    Description

    The Arts Education Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operations and delivery of Asase Yaa’s Arts Outreach Program across multiple school sites. The Outreach Program brings culturally rich, African-centered arts education to schools, providing students with engaging experiences in dance, music, and storytelling. This role ensures the successful coordination of teaching artists, school partners, curriculum implementation, and program evaluation. The Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining the quality, cultural relevance, and logistical efficiency of the program, serving as a vital link between the Asase Yaa team, artists, and school administrators.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Management

    • Coordinate and implement in-school and after-school arts residencies, workshops,

    performances, and lecture-demonstrations

    • Manage program calendars, contracts, and logistical arrangements with school partners
    • Maintain accurate attendance, invoicing, scheduling, and documentation across sites
    • Track program data, including student engagement and outcomes, for reporting and

    evaluation

    Teaching Artist Support

    • Recruit, hire, and onboard a diverse team of teaching artists in dance, drumming,

    theater, music, and visual arts

    • Provide support and supervision to teaching artists throughout the program cycle
    • Facilitate professional development, orientations, and classroom observations
    • Process artist payments and ensure compliance with DOE vendor requirements (e.g.,

    fingerprinting, clearances)

    School and Community Partnerships

    • Serve as the primary liaison between Asase Yaa and participating schools
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with principals, coordinators, and educators
    • Conduct site visits and attend planning meetings and school events to ensure

    satisfaction and engagement

    • Collect feedback from school stakeholders to continuously refine program offerings

    Program Evaluation and Reporting

    • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and track program goals and outcomes
    • Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to measure program impact
    • Assist with grant and DOE reports by providing accurate documentation and insights

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Education, Cultural Studies, or a related field

    (or equivalent professional experience)

    • 2–3 years experience in arts education, program coordination, or school-based program

    delivery

    • Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of African and African diasporic art forms
    • Experience working in or with NYC Department of Education schools strongly preferred
    • Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Excel, and/or CRM/data management tools
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with minimal

    supervision
