    Director of Development Job Description

    1. Annual Development Strategy & Planning
      1. Develop and execute a written annual fundraising plan that meets the capital needs of Lake Oconee Academy.
      2. Oversee annual efforts that include Annual Giving, Fundraising Events, Alumni Relations, Grants, and Event Volunteers.
      3. Manage and prioritize a portfolio of fundraising efforts to secure $1,000,000 in annual support by 2030.
      4. Attend and participate in Foundation strategy sessions.
    2. Donor Cultivation
      1. Identify and prioritize 25 new funding sources including, but not limited to, Parents, Alumni, Families, Staff/Teachers, Trustees, Foundations, Corporations, Suppliers and other constituencies.
      2. Work closely with the Foundation Board to develop Donor proposals.
      3. Develop and track all Donor proposals.
      4. Secure $100,000 in new revenue annually 2026 – 2030.
      5. If needed, plan and execute fundraising efforts supporting a Capital Campaign.
    3. Donor Relations
      1. Steward a portfolio of existing Donors to raise a minimum of $650,000 annually.
      2. Nurture year-round relationships with leadership-level Donors.
      3. Develop genuine relationships with all Donors.
      4. Identify and execute at least 1 stewardship activity to recognize existing Donors.
      5. Ensure Donors’ engagement in school activities.
      6. Develop and oversee Donor communication plan.
      7. Manage Donor renewals and negotiations.
      8. Survey leadership-level Donors annually regarding satisfaction and improvement.
      9. Oversee the management of a comprehensive Donor database.
    4. Community Engagement
      1. Be the Chief Ambassador for the LOA Foundation.
      2. Promote a strong case for the school’s philanthropic needs.
      3. Identify and execute a minimum of 2 Community events annually.
      4. Attend community and LOA signature events and activities.
      5. Make regular LOA classroom and event visits to garner firsthand knowledge of the Foundation’s impact.
    5. Event & Campaign Oversight
      1. Lead the planning and execution of key legacy fundraising events (Denim & Diamonds, Tees for Titans Golf Tournament).
      2. Research and propose new fundraising events as appropriate.
      3. Solicit, train and supervise key volunteers for event execution.
    6. Development Marketing and Communications
      1. Work collaboratively with identified marketing partners to create a Development marketing and activation plan.
      2. Lead the development of fundraising messaging.
      3. Oversee implementation of marketing/communication plans by outside resources.
    7. Budget Management
      1. Develop and manage a comprehensive budget for fundraising initiatives.
      2. Develop and manage systems for real-time financial reporting.
      3. Track all Donors’ YTD and lifetime contributions.
      4. Identify additional organizational resources needed to successfully execute the annual plan.
    8. Reporting & Analysis
      1. Report 8-10 key prospects’ status to the LOAF Board of Directors monthly.
      2. Provide fundraising budget update to LOAF Board of Directory monthly.
      3. Identify and analyze fundraising issues.
      4. Present recommendations for the resolution of fundraising issues.
      5. Meet regularly with LOA’s CEO regarding development needs.
      6. Meet regularly with LOAF’s Chairperson regarding needs and challenges.
      7. Actively participate in semi-annual performance reviews.
    9. Compliance & Training
      1. Ensure all donation accounting functions meet IRS requirements, including gift processing, acknowledgements and year-end tax documents.
      2. Attend annual Non-Profit training session(s).

    Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

    Experience:

    • Minimum of five years’ experience in Development roles or equivalent experience
    • Proven fundraising success; results-oriented
    • Foundation experience a plus
    • Delivers a high level of customer service to all constituencies
    • Demonstrates integrity, collaboration and team player culture
    • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work some nights and weekends

    Technical Requirements:

    • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
    • Internet proficiency (Chrome, Safari, Explorer, Firefox)
    • Database user interface and query software

    Salary :

    Commensurate with Experience

    4 weeks Personal Time Off

    Bonus of up to 10% based on achievement of goals
