    Description

Resource Generation (RG) is recruiting for a full-time High Net Wealth Senior Organizer to lead our programming and organizing of high net wealth (HNW) individuals and people with family foundations.

    About us:

Resource Generation is a national, multi-racial, membership-based organization mobilizing young people (age 18-35) with wealth and class privilege in the U.S. to become transformative leaders working towards equitable wealth, land, and power. The broader Resource Generation community includes people of all ages and class backgrounds who support young people with wealth’s role in social change. RG has 19 chapters in cities around the U.S., and our chapters engage in base-building, political education programming, giving circles, engaging in local and national campaigns, and building local organizational relationships. Resource Generation is proud to have 950+ dues-paying members who collectively move over $100 million in pledges to social justice movements annually. RG is 95% funded by our members.

Resource Generation operates on a 32-hour work week (generally Monday through Thursday). We currently have 24 full-time staff and are a multi-class and multi-racial team. We especially encourage those who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color; trans, non-binary, femmes, and gender non-conforming people; and people from poor and working-class backgrounds to apply.

At Resource Generation, we pride ourselves on offering benefits that reflect our commitment to equity and inclusivity. Our extensive range of benefits is the product of years of listening to and working with the needs and wants of our past and present staff from poor, working-class, middle-class, BIPOC, queer, and trans communities. You can find our full list of benefits here.

    Overview of role:

Resource Generation is seeking a High Net Wealth Senior Organizer to organize High Net Wealth and Family Philanthropy members of RG’s base, which we define as anyone who has direct access to $1 million in liquidable assets and/or is part of a family that has $10 million or more in assets (and “ultra high net wealth” as access to $10M and/or $100M+ in family assets). This program focuses on political education, leadership development, and mobilizing action among the portion of our base with the potential to move significant resources, organize their families, and take on leadership within the philanthropic sector. This position will report to the Resource Mobilization Director.

The ideal candidate is a passionate community organizer and political educator who excels at building relationships with member leaders, is deeply committed to economic and racial justice, is passionate about transformative fundraising, and can excellently manage multiple projects and timelines. This candidate will generate excitement and commitment from our HNW base to move resources to social justice movements and participate in campaigns for change. They will bring excellent skills in facilitation, curriculum design, and project management, and will design and run well-organized, powerful virtual programs on a year-round basis.

    Job Responsibilities:

High Net Wealth (HNW) & Family Philanthropy Organizing and Programming

    • Assess the needs of High Net Wealth and Family Philanthropy members of RG’s base and create relevant programming
    • Annually maintain relationships with 50-75 HNW members and engage in ongoing 1:1 or team/group-based support
    • Build and revise curriculum, coordinate outreach for, and manage 4+ virtual High Net Wealth Praxis groups a year (~8 person groups supporting participants’ learning and moving into action)
    • Recruit and train up Praxis facilitators, and facilitate Praxis as needed
    • Use creative tactics to ensure the HNW leadership development ramp is connected to local chapter organizing, and that all of RG’s strategies (political education, leadership development, resource mobilization, campaigns) are integrated with HNW programming
    • Coordinate timing of High Net Wealth programming with other major dates and initiatives in the RG calendar

Liaison with External Partners & Professionals

    • Maintain relationships and manage contracts with presenters from the field of social justice philanthropy, as well as coaches and other consultants
    • Train coaches on how to powerfully guide members through a giving/redistribution plan process, in alignment with RG principles
    • Collaborate with RM Director on philanthropic interventions specifically connected to HNW organizing and programming, identify key leaders to present on panels, and connect to RG member-led philanthropy projects
    • Lead on updating RG’s financial professionals database 1-2x/yr

    “Transforming Philanthropy” (TP) Programming

    • Support HNW & Family Philanthropy members to grow their leadership to transform the philanthropic sector
    • Ideate, design, execute, and/or project manage on various elements of TP programming (could be a virtual webinar series, conference track, standalone conference, etc.) for HNW & Family Philanthropy members with the support of the Resource Mobilization Director & Program Director
    • Act as point of contact for presenters
    • Provide strategic input on other programs targeting HNW & Family Philanthropy audience

Major Donor Fundraiser & Team Support

    • Cultivate list of ~50 major donor contacts, making integrated membership and Redistribution Pledge asks annually ($5K - $100K+ in direct fundraising, and $100K - $1M+ in redistribution to social movements)
    • Train staff team in making grounded Redistribution Pledge and membership asks of high net wealth and ultra high net wealth members

    Collaboration & Governance

    • Participate in staff governance through Resource Mobilization scope and other staff teams as elected
    • Contribute to annual conferences, retreats, webinars, and other team-wide initiatives

    Core qualifications and required skills:

    • 2+ years of experience (paid or unpaid) in community organizing. Has demonstrated experience with engaging and mobilizing a base, and developing leaders.
    • 2+ years of experience (paid or unpaid) in grassroots or individual donor fundraising. Has demonstrated experience with raising money from individual donors and increasing their giving over time.
    • 2+ years facilitation experience (paid or unpaid). Has experience training and facilitating political education for young people. Shows ability to meet a group where they are, but guide and push them to take action.
    • Strong program manager who is able to build trust across difference. Someone who has experience successfully managing teams on complex projects with many moving parts. Collective-oriented. Skilled in working and building trust with a wide range of people across class, race, gender, etc.
    • Self-directed and able to work remotely. Persistent, creative, and solutions-oriented. Can work-plan effectively to meet goals, communicate in a timely and responsive way, and can spend 32 hours a week on video calls and on a computer.
    • Desire to do transformative organizing of a multiracial base of young wealthy people. Has a demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice. Believes in the stake young people with wealth have in collective liberation, and the possibility and necessity of cross-class and multiracial movement building. Cultivates a vision of how young 1%ers could create a wedge in the owning class and side with social movements.

    Our ideal candidate would have:

    • Experience and confidence working with high net wealth individuals.
    • Experience in philanthropy, philanthropic/donor advising, and/or money coaching.
    • Oriented towards organizing and building power, not just fundraising donors.
    • Nuanced, intersectional understanding of class, classism, and their own class identity.

If you are excited by this position but don’t meet all the requirements, we encourage you to apply. We recognize that all candidates may not be strong in all of the areas listed. We also welcome learning about the strengths and talents that you do have to bring to this role that may not be fully captured in our list. While RG organizes young people with wealth, the RG staff is currently a cross-class and multi-racial team. We encourage those who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color; trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people; and people from poor and working-class backgrounds to apply.

    Compensation and Benefits:
