    Key Responsibilities

    The Director of Community Programs and Outreach will lead the organization’s programming, fostering community collaboration and advancing advocacy efforts by cultivating and strengthening engagement with strategic community partners to drive successful actions that address the root causes of food insecurity. The Director of Community Programs and Outreach will also lead the organization’s efforts to educate the community about food insecurity and develop the capacity of AACFB stakeholders to engage effectively in advocacy initiatives. This position is a key member of the Food Bank’s executive leadership team, regularly collaborating with the Chief Executive Officer and other leadership team members on strategic priorities and initiatives.

    Who We’re Looking For

    We seek a passionate and inspiring nonprofit professional experienced in leading and coaching direct reports, who is committed to empowering their team through regular, constructive feedback. The ideal candidate is driven by excellence, demonstrates superior collaboration, is grounded in integrity, and encourages curiosity from their team. The candidate must be skilled in relationship building, critical thinking, and public speaking. Extensive program management experience is essential, with a proven track record of successfully creating, implementing, and evaluating programs in a nonprofit environment. While not crucial, a strong understanding of advocacy work, policy development, and the legislative process is desirable.

    Education/Experience

    A bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or an equivalent field of study is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have at least five (5) years of program management experience with a proven track record of successfully creating, launching, and evaluating new programs in a nonprofit environment. At least three (3) years of senior management experience with a demonstrated ability to coach and support staff, and lead strategic initiatives in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment is required.

    For nearly 40 years, our county-wide food bank has served Anne Arundel County neighbors experiencing food insecurity by supplying free food and basic necessities to pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools, and other on-site feeding programs. The AACFB currently partners with 76 Network Partners across 115 unique locations throughout Anne Arundel County. Last fiscal year, the Food Bank distributed food and basic essentials totaling over four million pounds to an average of 48,000 individuals per month.
