    Position Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator Service Member plays a pivotal role in bridging the DC community with our mentoring and enrichment programs serving middle and high school youth. This dynamic position involves engaging adult volunteers, along with youth, families and communities, ensuring robust participation in our programs. Key responsibilities include representing Kid Power at community events, fostering strong connections and partnerships, and providing essential support to program operations. We are seeking a dedicated coordinator who is passionate about youth development and community building, and ready to make a significant difference in the lives of DC's youth.     Founded in 2002, Kid Power is a community-rooted nonprofit that empowers over 1,000 youth annually across Washington, DC. With an annual budget of $2.2 million, our evidence-based programs focus on academic confidence, social-emotional wellness, and civic leadership. We value collaboration, community-building, and youth voice in everything we do.

    Schedule: This full-time position requires 40 hours per week during Kid Power Program Operations, with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 6 PM. To effectively engage with our community, evening and occasional weekend hours are essential. As a hybrid role, you will work a minimum of 1-2 days per week in person, with additional in-person community activities as needed to fulfill your responsibilities. This flexible schedule allows you to immerse yourself in both office and community environments, ensuring you can make a meaningful impact.This is a position with a service term of up to one year. The service term will end on August 31st, 2026.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Recruitment:

    • Coordinate with partners to engage volunteers in Kid Power’s Mentoring and Enrichment programming.
    • Conduct phone, email, and internet outreach to potential program participants to engage them in the intake process.
    • Represent Kid Power at community events to attract new participants.
    • Document all recruitment efforts.

    Intake:

    • Host engaging information sessions and intake events for potential volunteers.
    • Support participants through the intake process via phone calls, emails, and text communications.
    • Maintain consistent communication with all program applicants to ensure successful enrollment.
    • Manage intake paperwork and records with precision.
    • Provide additional intake support as necessary.
    • Document all intake efforts.

    Program Support:

    • Assist in planning and outreach for special events (match socials, trainings, enrichment events).
    • Support preparation of monthly emails to program participants to keep them informed and engaged.
    • Collaborate with the development team to showcase Mentoring & Enrichment programming on the web, including social media platforms.
    • Provide additional program support as needed to ensure smooth operations.
    • Support recruitment, intake and engagement efforts for youth and families as needed.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Assist occasionally with development tasks and collaborate across departments to achieve common goals.
    • Attend special events (family engagement events, fundraisers, etc.) to support Kid Power's initiatives.
    • Participate regularly in various Kid Power meetings to stay informed and contribute to organizational success.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Passionate about Youth Development
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to work flexible hours (evening and occasional weekends)
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Organized, self-motivated, and solution-oriented
    • Willingness to undergo required background clearances for working with youth
    • Access to reliable transportation to attend regular community events

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2 year degree OR comparable work experience
    • Proficiency in Spanish
    • Experience with case management software tools
    • Familiarity with the DC community
    • Experience supervising interns or part-time staff
