    Position Overview

    The Regional Program Manager at PALS Programs oversees the operational aspects of our camp in a key region, ensuring that each program runs smoothly from enrollment to execution. This individual will be the direct manager for two regional coordinators, supporting all the efforts in the region. This role is critical to the success of our mission, providing leadership across various functions, coordinating with other regional staff as well as central employees, and ensuring an exceptional experience for all participants and staff. As PALS transitions to a new strategic plan, we will be hiring Regional teams in each of our four areas and are looking for individuals who can be flexible and adapt as the plan builds and each regional team grows into its final form.

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    Operational Leadership:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the regional team ensuring seamless coordination with central staff and execution of all activities.
    • Support and steward regional programming partnerships and university relationships (both existing and new as we continue to grow)
    • Manage the tracking and coordination of all key objectives and metrics, ensuring the accuracy of program enrollment, cancellation, waitlist placements and more.
    • Ensure all programming schedules and budgets meet the highest standards of quality and safety in accordance with PALS policies.

    Team Supervision:

    • Supervise and mentor a regional team of at least two Program Coordinators
    • Conduct quarterly performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement across the entire staff team, working alongside other regions as well as central and development teams.

    Budget and Resource Management:

    • Manage operational budget for each program as well as any regional initiatives (recruitment, leadership gatherings, etc) ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Analyze annual performance and implement improvements to enhance PALS impact and overall mission alignment
    • Support all on-site efforts, ensuring adequate staffing and support to enable successful and mission-aligned programs

    This is an exempt, full-time position according to the FLSA, with an expectation of approximately 40 hours/week and a salary range of $65,000-75,000. While PALS office hours are generally 9 am - 5 pm ET, work hours may vary depending on time and season. Occasionally, our young volunteer leaders meet with staff in the evening, or we host weekend events, and employees are encouraged to flex their time to accommodate these needs.

    The employee will work remotely and is expected to have a dedicated workspace for phone calls, video conferences, and independent work. This position will require travel to at least three weeks of programming on location during the summer months and should be prepared for on-site emergency and on-call support. PALS will provide the employee with a laptop, a generous PTO policy, monthly reimbursement for internet/phone, and a monthly reimbursement for healthcare premiums.

    PALS is a fully remote team and this regional position must live and work in California.

    • Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably in a camp, educational, or non-profit setting.
    • Strong ability and experience managing a diverse and distributed team.
    • Experience in managing complex operations, including logistics, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Demonstrated success in overseeing program development and execution.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion.
    • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
    • Detail-oriented, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of implementing effective solutions.
