    Literations envisions a day when all students, regardless of zip code, enter the fifth grade as proficient readers poised for academic success. Our mission is driving educational equity through experienced community volunteers empowering young readers for lifelong learning. We serve communities where opportunity gaps exist to ensure all students have the resources to become literacy proficient. Our experienced community volunteers are matched 1:1 with early elementary students from one of our 15 partners. These pairs meet weekly throughout the school year to accelerate students’ reading growth. Our highly-effective programming annually supports over 500 children to help them succeed in school and beyond. Literations is an affiliate of AARP Foundation Experience Corps, a national leader in engaging older adult volunteer coaches to improve grade 1-4 student literacy.     Literations is looking for an individual with demonstrated nonprofit program experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is flexible and customer service oriented. The Program Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring the successful implementation of our Framingham program. This position is ideal for individuals who are self-starters, want to expand their skills in implementing a program model with fidelity, and are looking to grow their experience in stakeholder relationship building and management.

    General Statement of Position

    The Program Coordinator is responsible for managing our literacy program within a portfolio of several Literations Framingham partners. Responsibilities include: supporting volunteer recruitment; volunteer management, coaching, and supervision; ensuring program adherence and impact; meeting program goals for the portfolio; developing strong, collaborative relationships with partners; oversight and skill development of Site Team Leaders; oversight and quality control of data management; regular collaboration with Program, Recruitment & Training, and Operations teams.

    This position will be a member of the program department and report directly to the Associate Program Director. This is a full-time, non-exempt, salaried position with a 40 hours per week schedule.

    The Program Coordinator provides in-person support to their sites weekly with some virtual office work throughout the week. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will be expected at in-person program and staff meetings in Boston (1-2x/month, depending on the time of year) as well as at several organization-wide events throughout the year.

    Responsibilities

    Program Coordination

    • Serve as an expert in Literations’ program model and delivery
    • Ensure consistent delivery of Literations’ literacy program and fidelity to the program model through ongoing professional development, training support of volunteers, observation of student literacy sessions, and providing regular coaching feedback to volunteers
    • Serve as primary relationship manager responsible for stewarding relationships with all site partners within assigned portfolio - including principals (directors and education coordinators at Clubs), academic liaisons, and data coordinators where appropriate
    • Recruit and onboard Site Team Leaders and support, coach, and coordinate the Site Team Leaders and their respective volunteer coaching teams within their portfolio
    • Collaborate with recruitment & training and operations teams to ensure smooth onboarding

    process for incoming volunteers

    • Responsible for the physical set up of materials and coaching space at each site for the successful running of the Literations program
    • Oversee the timely and efficient execution of student program referral, guardian consent, student/volunteer match process, and session scheduling
    • Ensure clear, efficient, transparent systems for scheduling and communicating coaching sessions and overall Literations program information with all relevant stakeholders (volunteer, student, site staff/administration, family, etc.)
    • Responsible for ensuring timely data and survey collection; support volunteers in data entry and troubleshooting volunteer data system issues
    • Utilize programmatic data reports consistently to ensure adherence to Literations’ program model, provide opportunities for volunteer coaching, determine programmatic trends, etc.
    • Collaborate with program department on program implementation and troubleshooting
    • Other duties as assigned (can include but not limited to): staff-wide gatherings, supporting fundraising events, etc.

    Community Engagement and Partnership Development

    • Responsible for relationship building and management of community partner stakeholders and representing Literations at partner and community events to ensure Literations becomes part of the fabric of the partner site and broader community
    • In collaboration with the Associate Program Director, coordinate regular partner meetings to ensure smooth program planning, ongoing communications and data sharing, partner satisfaction, etc.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 1-2 years of demonstrated experience with non profits and/or customer service
    • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • Able to quickly grasp, learn, and apply new skills and procedures
    • Excellent time management skills and high attention to detail
    • Excellent communication, customer service skills, and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent “people skills” and ability to work productively with a diverse group of community stakeholders, volunteers, and staff
    • Comfort with technology: computer, Zoom, Google Suite, etc.
    • Familiarity with Framingham and its surrounding communities a plus
    • Current and valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle is essential for this role
    • Bi-/multilingual a plus: Portuguese and/or Spanish preferred

    Benefits

    This is a full-time, non-exempt, salaried position (40 hours/week). The starting salary range is $50,000-$53,000 and is commensurate with experience. Benefits include:
