Job Summary:
The Executive Director oversees strategic and the operational efficiency of the Near Westside Neighborhood Assoc. by working with a diverse Board of Directors. The Director is responsible for sourcing, planning, development, and administration of programs, services, and activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining fiscal control, regulatory compliance, and community engagement as well as day-to-day activities as needed and necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Funding: Research, plan, and develop programs as they relate to agency goals. Secure funding via fundraisers, grant writing and events. Generate proposals and alternative approaches consistent with good management principles while maintaining standards of professional practice.
- Program Management and Operations: Direct programs, services, and activities, as approved by the Board of Directors, Manage accounting, records and monitoring systems
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain an understanding of federal, state, and local regulations as they affect agency activities in reference to NYS and local real estate, landlord/ tenant NYS laws
- Financial Oversight: Oversee financial and budgetary management, including planning and forecasting for the Agency, projects and programs. Able to prepare, interpret, and present budget requirements to the Board of Directors and external funding sources.
- Personnel Management: Manage the agency in full compliance with the Personnel Policies and Procedures
- Asset Management: Develop and maintain an adequate system to properly inventory assets.
- Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure legal and regulatory documents are filed on time and monitor compliance.
- Community Engagement and Partnership: Monitor existing community resources and their services. Maintain positive and effective working relationships with government and community organizations; partner with local agencies to increase public knowledge and understanding of the agency as well as interest in solving community problems.
- Board Support and Communication: Act as a resource to the Board of Directors, keeping them informed verbally and in writing of agency plans and activities so that they have adequate information to perform their duties.
- Daily Operations and Infrastructure: Oversee daily operations, make policy, planning, and strategy decisions as well as organizing and operating telecommunications, security, tele and video conferencing for agency, board and volunteer service.

- Proven experience in a leadership role with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Comprehensive understanding of Board operations, including governance rules, fiduciary responsibilities, and effective Board-staff relations.
- Strong managerial and supervisory skills, including team leadership, delegation, performance management, and fostering a positive work environment.
Financial Management:
- Demonstrated strong accounting skills and principles.
- Proficiency in budget preparation, implementation, and monitoring.
- Experience in maintaining accurate and organized record-keeping systems.
Compliance and Legal Acumen:
- Thorough knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations impacting non-profit organizations.
- Specific expertise in New York State and local real estate and landlord/tenant laws.
- Understanding of HR principles and practices.
Fund Development and External Relations:
- Proven success in grant writing and securing funding from diverse sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Established community network and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in community outreach and engagement strategies.
- Successful track record in fundraising and development activities.

- Proficiency in operating and managing telecommunications, security systems, and teleconferencing/video conferencing equipment.
