    Position Title: Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives

    Location: Remote

    Reports to: Director of Strategic Initiatives

    Position Summary

    The Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives works across departments and with external partners to implement and accelerate Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action’s collective impact. We highly value collaboration and partnership and see our work as building the power of the social justice movement by actively sharing our research, messaging, and creative programming with others. As a member of the Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives team, this role will play a critical part in helping us advance our organizational impact through scale by sharing.

    Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives will support and manage specific projects related to scaling our strategic partner communications and initiatives. Examples include creating reports, briefs, message guides, and presentations tailored to diverse partner audiences; attending partner meetings, conferences, and coalition calls in service of bringing insights back to the organization; coordinating partner webinars and trainings; piloting new partner communications strategies; and managing our Licensing and Data-Sharing processes that puts our research and ads in the hands of partners.

    The ideal candidate is both a strategist and a strong communicator who gets excited to meet and collaborate with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. They are detail oriented, enjoy politics and reading the news, are able to pivot and adapt based on rising needs, and are highly organized with the confidence and initiative to drive a project through its entire lifecycle from conception to completion. This is a highly cross-departmental role that bridges multiple teams.

    Responsibilities and Tasks

    1. Strategic Partner Communications
      • Represent the organization externally in partner meetings and coalition calls to cultivate strategic alliances and scale partnership collaborations and initiatives.
      • Actively contribute to and execute the overall partnership communications strategy, including identifying, evaluating, prioritizing, and piloting opportunities.
      • Organize and execute regular partner webinars and briefings.
    2. Collective Impact Initiatives
      • Manage the organization’s Licensing and Data-Sharing processes to scale impact, support lower capacity organizations, and strengthen our organizational reputation in the progressive movement.
      • Identify and execute potential new initiatives and collaborations that align with the organization's strategic direction and ethos of sharing.
      • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the progress and success of initiatives. Regularly report on the status and impact of initiatives to the team to inform funding, operational, communications, and programmatic strategy.
    3. Resource and Landscape Analysis
      • Stay updated with the political landscape, research insights, and digital and campaign trends, calling out potential programmatic opportunities.
      • Monitor mission-critical current events, record in the Landscape Library, and distill key updates to the team.
      • Manage the Landscape Calendar to track key external events and milestones that impact our audience and our work.
    4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
      • Collaborate with various departments and teams across the organization to ensure alignment and cooperation in implementing partnership initiatives.
      • Contribute to regular partnership updates to the full team to facilitate transparency and alignment.
      • Provide input to leadership on partner dynamics and opportunities.
    5. Miscellaneous
      • All employees of Hopewell Fund are required to complete timesheets every two weeks.
      • Performs other duties as needed.

    Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience

    • 5-8 years of experience cultivating relationships and implementing effective and strategic communications plans for partners and external stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with the progressive ecosystem and landscape.
    • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are not able to sponsor visas at this time.

    • Has a passion for politics and strong alignment with the mission and values of Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action, including a commitment to defending democracy and building multiracial political power.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong public speaking abilities and the aptitude to translate and distill complex information for all audiences and levels both within and outside the organization, across various modes of communication.
    • Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence. Has the knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways. Demonstrates awareness of growth edges and is driven to operationalize equity in their work.
    • Finds joy in organizing and streamlining processes. Has a sense of pride in having strong attention to detail and accuracy in their work.
    • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and remote work environment with multiple competing priorities.
    • Ability to bring levity, especially during times of rapid response and under tight deadlines.
    • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
    • Ability to travel to national conferences and annual team retreats approximately 2-4 times per year. Occasional work in the evenings or outside of standard business hours may be required.

    Valued and Non-Essential Characteristics

    • Proficiency in project management software (e.g. Asana), CRM platforms (e.g. Airtable), and Google Suite.
    • Knowledge of electoral campaign strategy, metrics, and tactics both on the national and local level.
    • Experience communicating and engaging external stakeholders over LinkedIn, BlueSky, Substack, etc.
    • Experience capturing and keeping contact information clean and accurate in CRMs.
    • Familiarity with working across distinct legal entities, including 501(c)(3) nonprofits, 501(c)(4) advocacy organizations, and 527 political action committees.

    Compensation & Benefits

    The starting salary range for this position is $95,000 - $103,000. Placement within this band will be determined based on years of prior experience and relevant skills. Galvanize USA also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in the 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
