    Job Role: Social Media Manager & Animal Shelter Caretaker (Single or Couple)

    Job Description:

    Daily Responsibilities

    • Social Media Manager
      • Taking pictures and videos of the animals and shelter
      • Managing our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok)
      • Creating campaigns
      • Keeping 5 stories active
      • Growing our reach
      • Posting to Insta/FB daily
      • Posting to our TikTok 5+ times daily
    • Shelter animal care
      • Meeting daily nutrition, medical needs, enrichment, socialisation, and exercise
      • Caring for up to 50 animals (max capacity), currently we have 42 cats, dogs, and chickens onsite, but we also sometimes do rehab/release for smaller animals, such as birds and bats.
    • Shelter facility management
      • Daily cleaning, maintenance, shopping, and DIY/gardening
    • Administration and reporting
      • Assisting with precise record-keeping and daily financials
      • Weekly impact tracking updates:
        • Ex: "Week 20: we facilitated 2 adoptions (Vinny and Charlise), administered 10 vaccinations, and provided full care for 3 chickens, 22 cats, & 17 dogs."
    • Additional responsibilities
      • Veterinary visits in Danang and Hoi An as needed
      • International adoption
      • Organization Development
        • Supporting the directors in the development of the organisation with projects such as rescue, TNR, TNVR, and community sterilization.
      • Fund Development
        • To assist the Directors in generating funds via social media campaigns, newsletters, and other fundraising projects.

    Person Specification

    The ideal candidate(s) will hold most of the following qualities:

    • Commitment
      • Can commit for 3+ months; 6+ months preferred.
      • Able to be in Hoi An and start ASAP.
      • An interest in working with all animal species and learning about anti-speciesism work to end animal suffering.
      • Self-motivated.
      • Excellent work ethic.
    • Communication
      • Fluent in English (spoken/written), with professional-level grammar and spelling
      • Excellent communicator, comfortable communicating with a global, remote team.
    • Social Media
      • Experience in social media marketing (Insta, FB, TikTok)
      • Knowledge and experience using social media channels or has marked achievements in their own personal channels/blogs
    • Animal Care
      • Hands-on animal shelter experience, pet-sitting, or a willingness to learn quickly.
      • Not afraid of breaking up dog/cat fights (at least 1 person, if applying as a couple).
    • Technology
      • Computer literate to include the use of Google Drive, social media platforms, Grammarly, WhatsApp, and other administrative programs.
    • Ethos
      • Not opposed to taking medication/vaccines (rabies is a real threat here).
      • Understanding and supporting vegan ideals and open to eating vegan while on-site. You do NOT have to be vegan.
    • Charity/Developing Areas
      • Previous experience working within the charity sector.
      • Previous experience working in a low-resource developing country, with strength in creatively solving problems in a place lacking the rule of law, without international veterinarians, and without many materials and financial support.
    • Other
      • Ability to ride a scooter preferred (at least one person, if applying as a couple).
      • Creative, curious, open, kind.
      • Quick learner.

    Employment Benefits

    • 10 mil VND per month starting salary (~$382 USD at the time of writing) per person.
    • Onsite accommodation in a private room in the shelter
    • 21 days annual paid holiday accrued throughout the year
    • 5-day work week, 35 hours a week approx. Though rescues and emergencies may require more hours
    • Mostly flexible working hours - ideal for a digital nomad or remote worker
    • Motorbike rental and petrol allowance (1 per couple)
    • Phone credit allowance (2 per couple)
    • 3-month visa renewal, but not initial entry visa (2 per couple)

    Notes

    • You do NOT need to be vegan. HOWEVER - we are a vegan organisation, and we require that you understand and support vegan ideals, regardless of your dietary choices, and maintain a vegan diet while on-site.
    • This is a couple-friendly job that can be shared; it’s especially well-suited for a Social Media Expert & an Animal Caretaker.
    • This job is well-suited for remote workers or digital nomads who have free time during the day to care for the animals. We have scheduled AM and PM feedings, but most of the work can be done around your existing schedule.
    • This job is well-suited for a university student studying remotely online, but who has free time during the day to care for the animals.
