    Position Description:

    Breach Collective (“Breach”) is seeking a fundraising professional to create infrastructure for growing our individual giving work, who is also able to cover operations capacity gaps during a period of upcoming staff leave. The Individual Giving and Operations Strategist is a part-time (0.5 FTE, 16 hours per week), six-month, non-exempt position, with the possibility of converting to a permanent and/or full time position in the future, contingent on funding. This position is hybrid/remote optional, with offices located in Eugene and Portland. Candidates must be located in Oregon and will need to be available in-person for meetings with prospective or current donors, and to organize and attend fundraising events, in one or both of our primary locations.

    Breach requires an experienced Individual Giving and Operations Strategist to help establish structure, processes, and the tools necessary to enhance Breach’s individual giving efficacy and efficiency; train Breach team members on individual giving fundraising strategies and best practices; and help spearhead Breach’s mass individual giving outreach this year, including fundraising events, planned giving, social media fundraising, and our end-of-year drive. The Individual Giving and Operations Strategist will play a key role advising and coordinating the identification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement, and stewardship of all levels of individual donors. The successful candidate will also be responsible for tracking individual gifts and collaborating with staff to set fundraising budgets.

    The Individual Giving and Operations Strategist will be classified as an Interim Employee within the bargaining unit represented by Communications Workers of America Local 7901.

    Organization Description:

    Breach is a unionized (with Communications Workers of America Local 7901), worker self-directed non-profit organization. The Breach team is nimble, with the capacity and expertise to support movements at varying stages of development with divergent approaches to making an impact. Our mission is to build power within the climate and labor movements through organizing, legal advocacy, education, and storytelling.

    Breach applies a mix of grassroots organizing, targeted legal advocacy, and strategic communications in order to maximize the success of local campaigns and build movement power. We strive to center frontline voices and impacted communities, and to embody internally the values we advocate for in movement spaces.

    Breach’s programs are primarily focused on Oregon and the broader Pacific Northwest. We also have strong relationships with several national and international partners.

    Currently, our work is centered around:

    • Fossil fuel resistance, including natural gas
    • A just energy transition, including building electrification
    • Labor movement building
    • Movement education
    • Internal anti-oppression work

    The Individual Giving and Operations Strategist’s work will include:

    Fundraising and donor retention (80%)

    • Develop and implement an individual donor strategy and processes
    • Research, procure, set up, and train colleagues on individual giving tools
    • Coordinate colleagues’ individual donor engagement, including identifying and fostering key relationships with individuals, organizations, and businesses
    • Organize and execute fundraising events (in-person and online)
    • Collaborate with communications staff on online mass fundraising campaigns
    • Engage board members in individual donor fundraising

    Internal organizational duties (20%)

    • Collaborate with the Director of Operations and other colleagues to develop fundraising budget
    • Provide assistance with Quickbooks entries, paying vendors/contractors, and running payroll
    • Attend regular staff meetings
    • Maintain and expand organizational profiles

    Desired Qualifications and Experience:

    • Investment in the climate and labor movements
    • Experience planning and executing fundraising events
    • A knack for building partnerships and relationships with supporters and businesses
    • Excellent emotional intelligence and relational communication skills
    • Experience with decentralized decision-making and conflict resolution
    • Familiarity and comfort with technology and virtual communication, collaboration, and productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft, Google, and other office suites; secure messaging apps; graphic design platforms such as Canva; social media; etc.) for various fundraising and work uses
    • Ability to work independently and be a team player within a nonhierarchical staff, including direct communication skills and ability to take accountability
