    Description

    Background

Global Knowledge Initiative (GKI) is a US-based nonprofit organization that aims to activate collaborative networks globally to deliver the innovative solutions needed to build more resilient systems. GKI is developing a comprehensive eLearning course rooted in its Systems Innovation Toolkit, a collection of intellectual capital intended for widespread access. The course breaks down complex systems innovation concepts into practical, real-world applications. It is designed to support a range of professionals who develop and implement programs, innovations, policies, or services addressing community challenges.

    Assignment Overview

GKI seeks a Business Strategy Advisor to guide the development and rollout of a sustainable business model and go-to-market strategy for its Systems Innovation course. The aim is to maximize the product's public benefit while generating revenue to sustain the course. This project requires strategic planning, market analysis, and implementation guidance to ensure successful course monetization. The Advisor will work closely with GKI’s executive, program, and communications teams to define revenue generation strategies, distribution models, and the long-term positioning of the eLearning product.

    Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

    • Sustainability & Impact Metrics: Advise the GKI team on measurable objectives and key results for implementation that account for public impact and business viability.
    • Market & Competitor Analysis: Conduct a comparative landscape analysis of similar eLearning products to identify gaps, competitive positioning, and target audience segments. The consultant will work with the GKI team to determine the appropriate number and mix of comparative products.
    • Business Model Design: Compare at least two minimally viable business models aligned with GKI’s mission and operational realities and provide recommendations and justifications for the preferred option. Evaluate scalability options, including resource requirements and investment needs.
    • Revenue Generation Plan: Propose optimal pricing tiers for individuals, institutions, and donors with financial projections (2-3 year forecast).
    • Distribution & Partnership Strategy: Recommend dissemination strategies, including potential partners, distribution channels, and promotional tactics.
    • Business Case and Marketing Materials: Develop a slide deck and one-pager of the business case for prospective partners or donors. Advise on drafts of marketing materials for course rollout.
    • Implementation Planning: Hand over key recommendations and an implementation roadmap at the end of the engagement.

Throughout the consulting engagement, the Advisor will be expected to build in moments for inputs, feedback, and iteration on the deliverables as part of a collaborative development process.

    • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
    • Demonstrated success in launching or advising the successful launch of sustainable digital learning products
    • Strong communication, synthesis, and stakeholder engagement skills
    • Familiarity with nonprofit contexts and deploying digital learning products for social impact
