Lead the Change You Want to See in the World.

Are you a passionate, values-driven leader ready to help shape a more sustainable, just, and hopeful future for Ontario?

The Green Party of Ontario (GPO) is seeking a visionary and strategic Executive Director (ED) to lead the Party’s operations, fundraising, and growth coming out of a record-breaking election year. This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in building a political movement rooted in climate action, social justice and compassionate leadership, which aims to elect more Green MPPs.

    About the Role

The Executive Director is the senior-most staff member of the Green Party of Ontario, reporting to the Provincial Executive, working closely with the Party Leader, Caucus, staff, and volunteers to:

    • Drive the implementation of our strategic plan
    • Grow and strengthen the party’s fundraising capacity
    • Lead a high-performing and inclusive team culture
    • Steward the Party’s finances with transparency and integrity
    • Oversee day-to-day operations, compliance, and technology
    • Foster deep engagement with our members, supporters, and the public

This is more than a management role—it’s a movement-building role.

    Your Mission

    • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with Staff, MPPs, and the membership to develop and implement annual strategic goals, track progress, and report transparently to the Provincial Executive.
    • Compassionate Leadership: Lead a passionate team of staff and volunteers through inclusive HR practices, mentorship, and strong organizational planning.
    • Fundraising & Growth: Drive the Party’s donor strategy with creativity and integrity, ensuring our fundraising reflects Green values and sustains our mission.
    • Operations & Compliance: Ensure smooth administration, Elections Ontario and GPO constitutional compliance and sound financial stewardship.
    • Community Building: Strengthen our base of members, volunteers, and local riding associations to grow a more diverse and engaged movement.
    • Communications & Mobilizing: Ensure consistent, values-aligned messaging across the Party and support mobilization for elections, events, and advocacy campaigns.

    Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who knows politics can be a force for good—and who believes that people power works.

    You are:

    • A confident leader with experience in executive management, ideally in a progressive nonprofit, political, or advocacy environment
    • A compassionate manager with an adaptable, people-first approach to building teams and problem solving in high pressure situations like elections
    • A fundraising strategist with a track record of growing donor support and building authentic relationships
    • A systems thinker—organized, analytical, and able to juggle budgets, timelines, and competing priorities
    • A movement builder who inspires collaboration across diverse communities, staff, and volunteers
    • Passionate about climate action, social justice, grassroots democracy, and equity

    Qualifications

    • Leadership and HR experience (hiring, team-building, performance management)
    • Strong financial management and budgeting skills including analysis, decision making and reporting
    • Demonstrated fundraising experience and donor relations expertise
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proven ability to lead and motivate staff, volunteers, and stakeholders
    • Political or campaign experience
    • Experience working with multiple levels of stakeholders (boards, donors, volunteers etc) is a strong asset
    • Bilingualism (especially French) is an asset
    • Knowledge of Elections Ontario requirements is an asset
