The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Office of Philanthropy, is currently recruiting for three Major Gift Officer 2 positions. These are frontline fundraising roles focused on face-to-face individual giving for several of UMB’s premier professional schools. Each position will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and advance philanthropic engagement through strategic relationship-building and solicitation efforts.

Each fundraiser will apply specialized and theoretical knowledge, principles, and concepts typically acquired through advanced education or specialized training.
Responsibilities will be accomplished using independent judgment, creativity, discretion, and analytical thinking, while resolving issues and significant matters on behalf of management.
The fundraiser will work with a portfolio of donors and qualified prospects. They must also develop an in-depth understanding of each school’s programmatic areas and funding priorities in order to align donor interests with institutional priorities. They will lead specialized mini-campaigns in addition to fundraising for school priorities. The position requires travel for face-to-face discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors. It is a hybrid role, combining both remote and on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Four (4) years of philanthropy experience, including at least one (1) year managing prospects in a higher education or comparable fundraising setting.
Certification/Licensure: Not required.
Other: Except where qualifications are required by law, additional related experience and formal education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis (30 undergraduate credits = 1 year of experience). When specific education or experience is required, only directly related credentials will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Hiring Range: $90,000 - $105,000, Commensurate with education and experience
