    Position Type: Full time, exempt (not eligible to receive overtime pay)

    Compensation: $80,000-90,000

    Location: UPA Office, Washington, DC (on location)

    Hours: 9am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday

    Reports to: Senior Director of Donor Engagement

    Position Summary

    UPA is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual interested in furthering their career in non-profit communications.

    The Director of Communications (DoC) leads the development and execution of UPA’s communications and media initiatives to ensure timely, impactful, donor-compliant, and brand-consistent engagement with internal and external audiences, and serves as editorial authority on all public communications. Reporting to the Senior Director of Donor Engagement, the DoC oversees the full spectrum of print and digital communications, including publications, fundraising campaigns, website content, and social media.

    The DoC writes original copy for all external communications and fundraising materials, including advertisements, the annual report, UPA blog, brochures, fundraising campaigns, materials for outreach events, social media, quarterly newsletter, and website.

    The DoC oversees a coordinated communications calendar and project manages content creation and design. The DoC also serves as the final compliance authority for institutional partnerships and UPA media deliverables, ensuring all materials meet donor visibility and publicity requirements before circulation.

    Qualifications

    1. At least 10 years of experience with non-profit organizations in the fields of marketing and communications.
    2. Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
    3. Strong track record in non-profit organizations, particularly in the area of communications.
    4. Good interpersonal skills and story-telling experience.
    5. Understanding of video editing and graphic design.
    6. Fluency in Arabic is required.
    7. Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
    8. Strong knowledge of data analytics and computer software proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Adobe systems.
    9. Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
    10. Strong time management skills and success meeting deadlines.
    11. Comfort working across time zones (Europe, ME & US).
    12. Experience with communicating organizational goals and policies.
    13. Deep knowledge of Palestinian culture, history, and narrative.
    14. Ability to travel within and outside the US if necessary.
