    Description

    The Executive Director (ED) will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and lead advocacy efforts to advance FOGFLP’s mission. The ED will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and community partners to strengthen organizational stability, expand programming, and secure sustainable funding.

    Leadership & Vision

    • Serve as the primary driver of FOGFLP’s vision, in collaboration with the Board, to enhance the park’s natural areas, public programs, and community access.
    • Foster a culture of belonging, stewardship, and equity within the organization and the broader community.
    • Lead FOGFLP’s work to advance the establishment of a City-State Park Partnership to manage Gwynns Falls/ Leakin Park

    Advocacy & Partnerships

    • Represent FOGFLP in political and advocacy spaces, including neighborhood, city and state meetings, to advance park initiatives.
    • Strengthen partnerships with state and local government, environmental agencies, community-based organizations, schools, and volunteer networks.
    • Advocate for policies and funding that support park conservation and equitable access.

    Community Engagement & Equity

    • Prioritize community organizing and engagement to ensure park programs reflect the needs and values of West Baltimore residents.
    • Advance equity, inclusion, and justice-oriented practices in all aspects of FOGFLP’s work.
    • Build trust and collaboration with historically underrepresented communities.
    • Engage with local stakeholders to align park initiatives with community priorities.

    Organizational Management

    • Oversee daily operations, including staff/contractor supervision, volunteer coordination, and program management.
    • Develop and implement financial management, fundraising, and donor engagement strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and best practices.
    • Lead organizational growth and change management efforts.

    Fundraising & Sustainability

    • Lead short- and long-term fundraising efforts, including grants, major donors, and signature events.
    • Identify state and federal funds opportunities
    • Diversify revenue streams to ensure financial stability.
    • Work with the Board to refine governance systems and operational efficiencies.

    Qualifications Required:

    • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, advocacy, or community-based organizations.
    • Strong skills in strategic planning, fundraising, and financial oversight.
    • Background in volunteer management and collaborative governance.
    • Experience in political or advocacy settings, with knowledge of local/state government processes.
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and environmental justice.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Familiarity with urban parks and nature-based programming.

    Preferred Additional Qualifications

    • Experience in park conservation, environmental education, or urban green spaces.
    • Familiarity with West Baltimore communities and their historical context.

    Benefits

    • This is a part-time role that requires 20 –25 hours per week, with the possibility of becoming a full-time position.
    • The salary is $60,000 per year
    • Most work is remote, and most can be scheduled on your own, if you meet goals and deadlines.
    • Some evening and weekend hours will be required to attend FOGFLP meetings and events.
