    🚀 About FIRST Washington

FIRST Washington (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a nonprofit that delivers hands-on, mentor-based STEM programs for students in grades 4–12 through FIRST® LEGO® League, FIRST® Tech Challenge, and FIRST® Robotics Competition. We support over 1,100 teams statewide, igniting young minds and inspiring the next generation of science and technology leaders through engaging competitions and events.

    🎯 Position Overview

The Marketing and Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and executing our marketing and communications strategy. Reporting to the President, this creative and strategic leader will drive awareness, engagement, and support for our programs across Washington. You’ll shape messaging, elevate our brand presence, and spotlight student and community stories that demonstrate the power of STEM and team-based robotics competitions.

We’re looking for a dynamic storyteller with a track record of delivering multi-channel, integrated campaigns—and someone who’s just as comfortable rolling up their sleeves and creating content as they are setting strategy.

    💼 Key Responsibilities

    • Design, implement, monitor, and optimize multi-channel marketing campaigns aligned with strategic goals
    • Create and curate compelling content for web, email, social media, newsletters, press, event materials, and more
    • Ensure brand consistency and evolve visual and messaging guidelines across platforms
    • Collaborate closely with the President to develop strategic messaging and content workflows
    • Develop and execute proactive and responsive media strategies, including press outreach
    • Maintain content calendars and lead creative direction for campaigns
    • Lead digital marketing strategy across channels; monitor analytics to optimize engagement
    • Capture and manage a library of fresh photos and video assets for marketing use
    • Track KPIs, test content, and report on campaign performance

    🔍 What You Bring

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of 3 years in a marketing or communications role
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and content creation skills
    • Experience developing and maintaining brand guidelines
    • Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities
    • Collaborative mindset and a customer-service orientation
    • Experience with creative agencies, content strategy, and storytelling
    • Proficiency in marketing platforms (email, social, CMS), or ability to learn quickly

    🌟 Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with email marketing tools (Marketing Cloud preferred), CMS platforms, and analytics tools
    • Familiarity with equity-driven or mission-aligned organizations
    • Passion for STEM education and youth empowerment

    💸 Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary Range: $70,000–$75,000 annually
    • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, generous PTO, flexible schedule
    • Mileage reimbursement and per diem for travel days
    • Ongoing professional development and growth opportunities
