    Development Manager

    Cure JM: About Us

    Cure JM Foundation is seeking a mission-driven and results-oriented Development Manager to lead key fundraising initiatives that support our mission to find better treatments and a cure for juvenile myositis (JM). This full-time, remote position offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact by advancing Cure JM's national Annual Fund, growing corporate partnerships, and driving direct mail efforts.

    We are looking for a self-motivated, organized, and collaborative fundraiser with a strong background in nonprofit development and donor engagement. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and excellent communicator who is eager to help grow a multi-channel fundraising program and foster meaningful donor relationships.

    Specific responsibilities include:

    Strategic Leadership (35%)

      • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the Annual Campaign, corporate partnerships, and direct mail.
      • Collaborate with the Executive Director, communications team, and program staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
      • Monitor key performance indicators and donor engagement metrics, adjusting strategies to optimize donor retention and revenue growth.
      • Maintain and improve internal fundraising processes and donor engagement workflows to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability.

    Annual Campaign Management (45%)

      • Own the strategy, messaging, and execution of the annual fundraising campaign, including year-end appeals and peer-to-peer aspects.
      • Coordinate campaign calendars, email communications, and online giving pages in collaboration with the communications team.
      • Develop donor segmentation strategies and personalized outreach to increase giving and donor retention.
      • Track campaign performance and provide regular reports on your program’s key metrics.

    Corporate Partnerships (40%)

      • Cultivate and steward relationships with corporate partners and sponsors, with an emphasis on growing sponsorship support for events, research, and programs.
      • Research and identify new corporate funding prospects and partnership opportunities.
      • Prepare customized sponsorship proposals, stewardship reports, and recognition materials.
      • Work cross-functionally to ensure sponsor fulfillment, visibility, and ongoing engagement.

    Direct Mail & Donor Communications (10%)

      • Oversee all aspects of Cure JM’s direct mail program, including list segmentation, letter and insert creation, mailing coordination, and results analysis.
      • Collaborate with consultants and vendors to ensure timely and high-quality mail production.
      • Partner with communications staff to ensure messaging is aligned across all channels.

    Team Collaboration & Support (5%)

      • Participate in regular team meetings and collaborate with staff and volunteers across departments.
      • Provide support for donor events, Family Conference, and chapter and walk events as needed.
      • Perform additional duties as mutually agreed.

    Desired outcomes:

      • Growth in Annual Campaign revenue and participation year-over-year.
      • Increased engagement and retention of corporate sponsors and individual donors.
      • Enhanced effectiveness and ROI of direct mail and integrated campaigns.
      • Strong, reliable systems for donor communication and engagement.

    Requirements and Attributes:

      • B.A. or B.S. degree required; CFRE or advanced training in development is a plus.
      • 0-5 years of nonprofit development experience, including donor communications and annual fund management.
      • Proven success in meeting fundraising goals and cultivating donor relationships.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to craft compelling donor messaging.
      • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
      • Familiarity with Canva, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office preferred.

    Details:

      • This is a remote, full-time position (40 hours/week) with an annual salary of $65,000.
      • Occasional travel (3-4 times per year) may be required upon mutual agreement for events, conferences, or donor meetings. Cure JM will cover reasonable travel expenses.

    Cure JM Provides three weeks of paid vacation, five paid sick days, and10 days of paid holiday per year: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday, Washington's Birthday (Presidents Day), Memorial Day, Independence Day (4th of July), Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

    The Associate will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including members of Cure JM’s Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers across the United States, primarily by email, phone, and zoom.

    This is a remote work (telecommuting) position.
