    Description

    Key Responsibilities include:

    Brand identity and messaging

    • Work with staff to ensure consistent brand strategy across content, departments, and campaigns
    • Collaborate on talking points, messaging, graphic identities and more for individual campaigns and special projects
    • Help create and maintain consistent messaging and design across all platforms, projects, and pieces

    Media relations

    • Draft and distribute written statements and press releases on Open Plans’ campaigns and relevant breaking news
    • Work with the team to concept and draft op-eds, press pitches, and other media outreach
    • Serve as first point of contact between media and Open Plans; set up, staff, and advise on media interviews

    Content guidance and creation

    • Oversee the creation of printed and digital content including website, social media, brochures, one-pagers, and reports
    • Manage the content distribution of biweekly newsletter
    • Manage team members responsible for social media and graphic design; strategize and help implement creative direction for both
    • Assist with Annual Report writing and year-end appeals, as needed
    • Assist with communications for events such as copy writing for blog posts, invitations, awards, etc

    The ideal candidate is:

    • A persuasive writer and skilled editor of written content
    • Able to distill complex topics and ideas into compelling, digestible content and communicate crucial nuances to various audiences
    • Interested in and familiar with the movement for livable streets
    • Able to manage multiple projects and tasks at a time; skilled at multitasking and driving a project forward
    • Flexible, creative, and critical thinking problem solver that can employ many strategies to reach goals
    • Has or can develop and maintain city and state press connections
    • Knowledgeable about of New York City government and city agencies
    • A team player and collaborator
