    Position Title: Communications Associate

    Location: NYC-based preferred, hybrid position (Tuesday-Thursday in the office)

    Start date: Immediately

    Status: Full-time, 3-month probation period leading to a permanent position

    The Institute for New Economic Thinking (www.ineteconomics.org) is a New York City-based research and education foundation that inspires the economics discipline to address the key challenges of the 21st century. Created in response to the global financial crisis, the Institute supports shifting economic ideas by funding academic research, building communities of “new economic thinkers,” and communicating about the need for change

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    The Communications and Marketing Associate will support the organization’s public presence and outreach efforts. This role requires a multi-skilled communicator with strong writing, organizational, and digital skills to assist in executing our communications strategy, elevate our voice, and engage new audiences.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Copy-edit and post articles, events, working papers, podcast episodes, and INET media mentions on the INET website
      • Develop content for, update and oversee digital content for website, social media, newsletters, email, press releases, videos, blogs, podcasts, and general communications
      • Maintain and update the organization’s website
      • Collaborate closely with the events team to develop communications strategies around major events and initiatives
      • Track and support media mentions and engagement with journalists and external stakeholders
      • Support social media strategy and execution across platforms
      • Work collaboratively across departments, including research, development, YSI, Video, and programs
      • Maintain editorial calendars and track content performance metrics

    QUALIFICATIONS

      • 3–5 years of experience in communications, media, journalism, or a related field
      • Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills
      • Familiarity with digital content platforms
      • Experience in producing multimedia content a plus
      • Interest in economics, public policy, or social impact work is a must
      • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment

    SKILLS & TOOLS

      • Familiarity with digital communications tools (e.g., CMS platforms, Google Analytics, Podbean , Riverside.fm)
      • Email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, SendGrid/ Twilio)
      • Social media tools (e.g., X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Bluesky)
      • Audio/video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe) a plus
      • Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS is a bonus
      • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office

    SALARY

    The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This role includes a full benefits package including but not limited to:
