    Reports to: Climate & Energy Project Manager

    Schedule: Full‐Time, Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)

    Location: Remote/Hybrid with preference for qualified individuals located in the SBC service territory (Sierra Nevada) or adjacent counties.

    Position Summary

    The Climate & Energy Technician will help SBC advance our climate impact initiatives. Our team is focused on implementing programs that achieve significant emissions reductions and cost saving measures for communities and jurisdictions in the Sierra Nevada. We are looking for a motivated and passionate team member to help us advance our portfolio of climate and energy projects.

    This position will work on the Climate and Energy Team, with a focus on energy efficiency implementation programming (including the Northern Rural Energy Network (NREN) program and the Sierra Nevada Energy Watch (SNEW) program), with support for other Climate and Energy projects (including electrification programming and greenhouse gas inventories). The Climate & Energy Technician will help ensure these programs meet their deliverables to assist Sierra Nevada communities in implementing climate action and energy efficiency measures.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Climate & Energy Technician position is primarily responsible for providing client recruitment, outreach, community engagement, facility auditing, data analysis, client management, and support services under SBC’s Climate and Energy programs.

    NREN position elements include:

    • Assist with marketing and implementing the NREN program, including:
      • Residential & commercial energy efficiency rebates - outreach, rebate applicant support, review & processing rebate applications
      • Residential energy efficiency technical assistance - outreach, home assessments, energy efficiency saving kits, education
      • Financing - outreach, reviewing & processing loan applications
      • Workforce education & training - outreach, enrollment
      • Codes & standards - outreach, education

    SNEW position elements include:

    • Develop relationships with SNEW clients: public agencies and small businesses
    • Conceive and implement outreach strategies to engage clients with SNEW services
    • Develop and distribute energy efficiency educational materials
    • Help clients evaluate and pursue energy efficiency opportunities, including:
      • Conducting energy benchmarking analyses and reports
      • Conducting energy audits and facilitating contractor retrofits
      • Conducting greenhouse gas inventories and climate action planning
      • Helping clients navigate rebate, incentive, and financing programs for energy efficiency implementation
      • Facilitating meetings for clients and stakeholders

    Other Climate and Energy programming include supporting:

    • Go Electric Truckee Tahoe
    • Climate Transformation Alliance for the Truckee-Tahoe region
    • Travel within project region, including overnight is required

    PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • College degree or equivalent of 2 years of related work experience in the energy efficiency field
    • Experience designing and implementing client outreach and recruitment tactics
    • Knowledge of building energy efficiency measures and strategies
    • Knowledge of facility energy audits, benchmarking reports, greenhouse gas inventories, and/or climate action planning
    • Collaborative, effective, and professional verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as with a team, to learn on the job, and to be flexible/adaptable
    • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to meet or exceed deliverables
    • Established analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
    • Ability to develop strong, effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members
    • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data and information
    • Must be able to follow organizational policies and procedures

    EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

    • A pre‐employment background screening will be performed
    • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
