    Description

    Are you passionate about climate change and environmental justice? Would you like to join Earthworks’ 6-person philanthropy team in raising $9M+ annually from foundations and individual donors to support Earthworks’ mission? This role will focus on foundation stewardship and cultivation, grant writing and reporting, and information management.

    The Foundation Relations Manager will report to and work closely with Earthworks’ Senior Manager in Foundation Relations, and participate cross-programmatically with the Energy, Mining, Policy, Finance, and Communications teams. This position will:

    • Steward and manage a specific grant portfolio
    • Cultivate and raise new foundation support to meet specific income goals for key programs or projects, as needed and assigned.
    • Collaborate with program teams on grant writing and reporting
    • Draft, finalize, and submit grant proposals and reports
    • Conduct foundation research and briefs
    • Maintain Earthworks’ foundation relations calendar, files, and Salesforce data.
    • Strengthen foundation relations, including preparing timely thank-you letters and updates.
    • Monitor program indicators and measures of success for reporting purposes
    • Participate on the philanthropy team and support a culture of philanthropy at Earthworks through team goals and projects

    Required Experience and Qualifications

    • Five or more years of relevant experience, including some project management responsibilities
    • Able to synthesize complex ideas into clear and engaging written materials
    • Excellent writing and editing skills that show an attention to detail and an ability to tell a story
    • Strong verbal skills and emotional intelligence, with an ability to ask questions, listen, empathize and give and receive constructive feedback
    • Project management and scheduling skills, including an ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines
    • Able to work effectively both independently and in collaboration with others
    • Able to anticipate and solve problems, with a learning orientation that aims for continuous improvement
    • Familiarity with project management software, online research tools such as Foundation Directory Online, and CRMs like Salesforce is a plus

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications

    • Experience fundraising for 501(c)4s
    • Experience writing, budgeting, and managing grants of $300K+
    • An ability to start work no later than September 2, 2025

    Location, Travel, and COVID-19

    Location for this position is remote in the United States, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The salary range for this position is $72,000-$78,000 annually, depending on experience. Earthworks provides full-time staff with a competitive package of benefits, including employer-paid medical, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance. Additionally, Earthworks offers unlimited paid leave, paid parental leave, and a 403(b) retirement plan (with a 5% match after one year of employment). After five years of employment, staff are eligible for a 12-week, fully paid sabbatical.

    Bargaining Unit Status

    Earthworks is a union workplace; our employees are represented by Earthworkers Unite/ Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). This position is included in the bargaining unit.
