    Introduction

    The mission of the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) is to advance and transform public health practice by championing performance improvement, strong infrastructure, and innovation. PHAB is the accrediting body for Tribal, state, local, and territorial governmental public health departments in the U.S. Accreditation provides a means for a public health department to identify performance improvement opportunities, to improve management, develop leadership, and improve relationships with members of the community.     Position Summary

    PHAB is seeking a technically adept and mission-driven Senior Systems Engineer/Systems Integrator to lead and support internal technology systems and data infrastructure. They will lead the design, integration, and lifecycle management of complex systems across PHAB. This role requires deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to bridge multiple technical disciplines to ensure successful integration of hardware, software, and network components.

    The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, product teams, and external partners to develop end-to-end system solutions, ensuring performance, reliability, and security requirements are met throughout the system lifecycle.

    This position serves as PHAB’s internal expert on system configuration, data flows, and integration, helping translate programmatic needs into technical requirements. This individual will play a key role in enhancing PHAB’s Salesforce ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration across platforms, and supporting organizational goals through strategic data and systems management. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Salesforce administration or development, data analysis and visualization, vendor oversight, and project execution within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Act as the internal IT lead, coordinating governance meetings, evaluating new solutions, and making recommendations for technology solutions that meet organizational needs
    • Liaison between programmatic staff and IT vendors and contractors
    • Ensure proper security controls are applied across the organization and within vendor environments
    • Own core systems across the organization, including updating, reporting, coordinating improvements, and ensuring best practices are applied

    Salesforce Development & Support

    • Serve as lead internal resource for Salesforce configuration, customization, and workflow logic
    • Collaborate with staff and external vendors to identify system enhancements and lead implementations
    • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Salesforce to align with program goals and evolving needs

    System Integration & Data Management

    • Design and oversee secure, efficient data flows between core PHAB systems (e.g., Salesforce, ePHAB, Office365)
    • Support data architecture, ETL pipelines, and documentation for internal use and external reporting
    • Ensure accurate, timely, and validated data movement across platforms

    Program & Stakeholder Collaboration

    • Translate programmatic needs into technical specifications, working closely with internal teams to support business process improvements
    • Develop roadmaps for system upgrades and technology adoption aligned with organizational priorities
    • Facilitate training and support for staff using key platforms

    Data Analysis & Visualization

    • Design and deliver internal dashboards, reports, and visualizations that support decision-making
    • Utilize SQL and R to support advanced analytics and reporting efforts

    Vendor & Project Oversight

    • Manage technology vendors for third-party tools and platforms, ensuring delivery aligns with PHAB’s needs and values
    • Serve as technical lead on related IT projects, contributing to planning, risk assessment, and implementation oversight

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Public Health Informatics, Data Analytics, or related field preferred
    • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT systems or engineering roles
    • Salesforce experience, including configuration, automation, and ideally development (e.g., Apex, Flows, Lightning)
    • Experience with SQL and R
    • Demonstrated experience managing and integrating cloud-based tools and platforms
    • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, system interoperability, and information security best practices
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills, including ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
    • Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is preferred
    • Familiarity with data governance principles and system lifecycle management
    • Experience with modern BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
    • Understanding of public health systems or accreditation programs is a plus
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset
    • Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and quality assurance practices
    • Ability to think critically and adapt to changing business needs
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills as shown by a clear record of accomplishments in professional and technical writing, making ad hoc and planned professional presentations to many audiences
    • Experience running technology projects
    • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with peers in a team-oriented environment
    • Familiarity with IT helpdesk ticketing systems and SharePoint management is a plus
    • Ability to travel

    VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS: PHAB recommends but does not require its staff, volunteers, interns, fellows, assignees, and meeting attendees be up to date with an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccination series, including boosters.
