    Description

    The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations is seeking a dynamic and strategic Development Manager to support the organization’s fundraising efforts , and to ensure the organization meets its annual revenue goals. This role will execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, strengthening relationships with existing sponsors, and securing nongovernmental grants.

    The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, demonstrate a high degree of initiative with a strong focus on business development, and possess the drive to build lasting fundraising success for the organization.

    This position reports to the president and vice president as noted below.

    Key Functions

    • Identify new funding opportunities, including corporate sponsorships, major gifts, foundation grants, and individual giving
    • Assist in the planning, execution, and wrap-up of the annual gala dinner fundraiser and other cultivation events

    Responsibilities

    • Work with the President on donor strategy and project proposals
    • Strategize and execute annual appeals
    • Work with the administrative Vice President to organize our annual gala event including, securing venue and managing vendors
    • Coordinate with venue and event consultants, lead fundraising, invoicing, ensure timely receipt of payments, sending donor acknowledgements
    • Manage new corporate member intake, maintain corporate member lists and materials, monthly emails, and periodic invitations
    • Maintain cultivation lists for all upcoming public & private programs, special events and VIP opportunities, create and send donor acknowledgements, prepare grant reports for donors
    • Manage Salesforce to ensure accurate reporting and donor management, campaign, gala, and other contribution reconciliations

    Qualifications

    • Ideally 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related field
    • Experience organizing and leading large-scale events
    • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple tasks, details, and deadlines
    • Strong grant writing and research skills, superior communication and interpersonal skills

    Requirements

    • U.S. citizenship or work authorization required
    • B.A. required
    • Hybrid work schedule (current required 3 days in the NYC office; 2 days remote)
    • Some evening and weekend work required
    • Broad-based knowledge of China

    The expected annual salary range for these positions is between $70,000–$95,000.
