    Position Description

    The outreach coordinator will be responsible for implementing Clean Air Council’s environmental

    justice outreach and advocacy work in southern Delaware County, Pennsylvania and northern Delaware.

    The outreach coordinator will work to maintain and grow the Council’s relationships with community

    leaders, and to engage residents and local groups in understanding local environmental health impacts

    from industrial facilities and climate change. In addition, the outreach coordinator will support local

    community leaders and residents in their ongoing efforts to address environmental concerns, including

    raising their concerns to decision makers and advocating for protections and positive community

    change. Project and program responsibilities may change over time.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that local residents and community leaders are informed about local environmental

    health issues, including opportunities to submit public comments and testify at public

    meetings about polluting industrial facilities and local air quality plans and policies

    • Provide residents, local groups, and community leaders with educational materials about

    pollution impacts to the public. This could include flyers, pamphlets, social media posts,

    webinars, and online or in-person meetings.

    • Support residents in recognizing and reporting potential pollution incidents to agencies
    • Support the Council’s ongoing air quality, watersheds, climate, and environmental

    health programming in southern Delaware County & northern Delaware

    • Provide resources, ongoing coordination, and organizational support to local

    community leaders, including Marcus Hook Area Neighbors for Public Health,

    Naamans Marcus Hook Stoney Creek Watersheds Alliance, Friends of Wilcox Park,

    and Friends of Sun Village Park

    Qualifications:

    • At least 2 years of previous experience in community outreach and education programs,

    community organizing, advocacy campaigns, teaching, or work that required similar skills

    • Knowledge of community assets and concerns in southern Delaware County, PA
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including meeting facilitation
    • Ability to develop materials for our constituencies such as flyers, brochures, presentations,

    social media posts, etc.

    • Experience collaborating with external partners on a project preferred
    • Public speaking experience is a plus

    Other Considerations

    • The Council will prioritize candidates that live in southern Delaware County, especially

    Marcus Hook, Linwood, Trainer, and Chester, where many industrial facilities are located

    • Some local and regional travel may be required. The Council will cover the cost of

    reasonable public transportation, mileage, or rental cars.

    • Some occasional evenings and weekends may be required
