    Description

    The Assistant Director, Corporate Partnerships works as a frontline fundraiser, responsible for 70-80 corporate accounts as part of the Corporate Partnerships team to bring new funds and maintain existing funds from corporations in the U.S.-Japan space through three distinct revenue streams: Corporate Membership, Corporate Sponsorship and Annual Dinner. The Assistant Director, Corporate Partnerships, is also expected to act as an ambassador on behalf of Japan Society at events with these constituents in front of existing and future corporate funders to enhance the partnerships.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with the Director of Corporate Partnerships to devise strategies for recruitment and retention of Corporate Members and Sponsors, and to achieve both revenue goals, as assigned.
    • Co-lead Annual Dinner fundraising along with the Director of Corporate Partnerships to achieve the revenue goal, working closely with the Special Events, Office of the President, and Corporate Partnerships team.
    • Collaborate with program directors to both prospect for new sponsorship support and steward current sponsors to maintain and upgrade support.
    • Enhance engagement among corporate members and sponsors by introducing additional opportunities for support within Japan Society and promoting greater utilization of corporate and employee benefits.
    • Collaborate with the Office of the President to prepare for senior-level corporate meetings and communications.
    • Arrange and participate in regular meetings with existing and potential corporate members/sponsors to identify new opportunities for support.
    • Work with Japan Society’s Board of Directors to bring new corporate industries and supporters to Japan Society.
    • Develop guest lists for invitation-only events for Business & Policy and other events.
    • Potential domestic and international trips to engage existing and potential supporters outside of NYC.
    • Identify and research new prospects.
    • Prepare correspondence, proposals, benefits, marketing materials, and reports for Corporate Membership, Sponsorship and Annual Dinner.
    • Work with the Corporate Partnerships team to process and send out monthly renewal, upgrade, and solicitation materials to all corporate members with phone/email follow-up.
    • Field inquiries via corporate membership phone lines, email inboxes and mail and answer questions.
    • Steward donors and fulfill benefit requirements and requests, including partnership events, working closely with the Corporate Partnerships team.
    • Attendance at Japan Society programs/events required, including early morning and late-night events. (3-6 per month)

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Knowledge of Japanese culture and business-level Japanese language is highly desirable but not required.
