About Building Impact:

For more than twenty years, Building Impact (BI) has partnered with companies to strengthen communities through volunteering with local nonprofit organizations. Our mission is to strengthen communities by empowering individuals and companies with the opportunity to volunteer, donate, and connect with high impact, local nonprofits working on critical social issues. In 2024, we worked with more than 58 companies, and engaged more than 11,000 volunteers resulting in $2.4 million total contribution in support of nonprofit organizations and communities across the United States.

The Opportunity:

The Senior Program Manager works closely with the SVP of Programs and collaborates with the larger Program team to develop and deliver Building Impact’s volunteer initiatives, with a focus on kit-building projects and nonprofit shift-based service. This role co-designs and implements seasonal volunteer programs across various social issues, manages program logistics and budgets, and ensures accurate tracking of both quantitative metrics and qualitative insights. The Senior Program Manager also serves as the primary liaison between a select portfolio of corporate clients and nonprofit partners from post-contract planning through single day-of-service execution. This position supervises a coordinator level role and may also oversee seasonal interns.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Design and Oversight (50%)

• Cultivate strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations locally and nationally to collaboratively design tailored volunteer programs that align with corporate social responsibility goals and community needs.
• Lead research and discovery efforts to understand nonprofit partner needs, serving as the foundation for developing BI’s seasonal standard program offerings across a range of social issue areas.
• Collaborate with nonprofit partners and BI team members to co-design and develop a menu of kit-based offerings that feature both virtual and hands-on components tailored to address high-priority community needs as part of our in-office and on-site meeting volunteer programs.
• Develop email templates for clients to utilize to promote and recruit volunteers.
• Collaborate with the Programs and Graphic Design Associate to oversee the development of all promotional graphics, facilitation slide decks, virtual volunteering program forms, and additional assets as needed.

Program Account Management (30%)

• Design, manage and support volunteer projects that include kit building, shift/work rotations at nonprofits, and/or donation drives, serving as an account manager for assigned clients and being the primary point of contact for select nonprofits related to program delivery and implementation.
• Serve as the program account manager for a portfolio of corporate volunteer projects, fostering strong partner relationships and ensuring alignment on goals, expectations, and timelines. Oversee projects from initiation through completion, managing planning, logistics, communication, and execution to ensure successful outcomes for all stakeholders.

Program Delivery (20%)

• Work closely with the Programs and Graphic Design Associate to oversee supply ordering for the implementation of volunteer projects with clients and the delivery of kits/supplies to nonprofit organizations, including managing program budgets.
• Manage the program supply budgets.
• Communicate with nonprofits upon conclusion of a project to collect testimonials and photos for impact reporting.
• Oversee and assist kit assembly for programming and nonprofit distribution.
• Lead and facilitate volunteer projects as assigned (our team relies on every team member to facilitate volunteer projects and engage our volunteers in various modes including virtual, in person, and at conferences). Project facilitations may be virtual, in-person at a client location or at a host nonprofit, or on select occasions requiring travel out-of-state. Any multi-day or out-of-state facilitations would include advance notice and planning prior to travel.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years professional experience in a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to creatively design and implement programs for social impact.
• The ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that demonstrate growth and excellence in program design and program delivery.
• Be well-organized, detail-oriented, a critical thinker, and solutions-driven professional.
• A proven ability to initiate and build relationships with nonprofit partners.
• Demonstrated ability to employ systems thinking to enable efficient operating practices, including experience with successful project completion.
• Ability to serve as a facilitator to small and large groups, which includes comfort with presenting in front of groups to engage them in programs and projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects and the ability to adapt to changing contexts and balance time between both tactical activities and strategic responsibilities.
• Possess an ability to foster internal and external teamwork through strong interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environment and with deadline-driven situations.
• A team player who values empathy and can bring a unique perspective to our work.

• The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000.
