    Action Center on Race and the Economy (ACRE) and ACRE Institute drive campaigns that seek to create a more racially and economically just society that values people over profit and supports the full inclusion and leadership of Black, brown, and poor people in our democracy and economy. Bargaining for the Common Good (BCG) is the organizing arm of ACRE and ACRE Institute.

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Director to join our Finance and Operations team. The Project Director will report to, and work closely with, the Senior Director of Finance and Operations.

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    The Finance and Operations team oversees our organization's infrastructure. We manage the back office so the field staff can focus on working with labor and community organizations to create a more racially and economically just society. When we do our job well, we have a productive workplace where everyone works to realize our established mission and objectives.

    Administrative and Logistical Support: The Finance and Operations team provides administrative and logistical support to the senior leadership team and organizational programs. Responsibilities may include managing relationships with vendors; event planning, coordination, and communication; virtual event management and moderating; and, managing communications and scheduling.

    Human Resources: The Finance and Operations team supports the needs of our diverse, remote, and talented team. Responsibility may include recruitment and retention, payroll and benefits administration, and compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.

    Financial Operations: The Finance and Operations team is responsible for managing the organization’s financial planning, accounting, and reporting to ensure the organization's financial health and compliance with all relevant regulations. Responsibilities may include managing daily and recurring accounting functions, in partnership with our external accountant; reconciling expenses reports and reimbursements; and, maintaining financial records.

    Operations Management: The Finance and Operations team is responsible for ensuring ACRE operates efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with our mission and strategic goals. Responsibilities may include implementing systems and processes to improve productivity and efficiency, working with our external IT firm on software and hardware provisioning and systems hardening, enforcing the organization’s record retention policy, and preparing contracts.

We’re looking for a well-rounded, seasoned project director who meets these requirements.

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management
      • Preferably leading operations, finance, or human resources projects
      • Ideally in a social justice oriented, nonprofit organization
    • Commitment to racial and economic justice and understanding of the issues ACRE addresses.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
    • Excellent active listening, communication, and presentation skills
    • Ability to adapt as needed, self-manage, and prioritize a complex work plan with ever-changing priorities
    • Willingness and ability to travel to in-person meetings and provide on-the-ground event support

Location is flexible within the contiguous United States. This position will be jointly employed by ACRE (a 501(c)(4) organization) and ACRE Institute (a 501(c)(3) organization). This position is a confidential position that is not part of the bargaining unit of the ACRE Workers Union.
