    Description

    The Opportunity

At a time of deep uncertainty and systemic underinvestment in health safety net services, this role is a rare opportunity to lead transformational change in the region. The Collaborative Manager will shape and sustain a model for community-driven, equity-focused healthcare in partnership with some of the most innovative and committed safety net health care organizations in Virginia. This is a new position.

About the Greater Richmond Safety Net Collaborative (GRSNC)

The GRSNC is a dynamic coalition of healthcare safety net providers committed to eliminating health disparities in the Greater Richmond region. We serve marginalized populations-uninsured, underinsured, immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, communities of color, and those with low incomes-by fostering inclusive, community-led healthcare solutions. Our mission is to build a unified health system rooted in equity, collaboration, and advocacy.

With more than a dozen active members-including hospital systems, free clinics, health departments, and community-based organizations-the GRSNC is strengthening its collective impact through shared leadership, coordinated services, and a focus on social justice in healthcare delivery.

    Position Overview

The Collaborative Manager (CM) will serve as the lead coordinator and strategic driver of the GRSNC, helping to unify our region's safety net into a more integrated system of care. Reporting to the GRSNC's Steering Committee, the CM will advance the shared vision of improving health outcomes for underserved communities while sustaining long-term partnerships and funding streams.

This is a unique opportunity for a collaborative, mission-driven leader to shape the future of healthcare access and equity across the region.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Strengthen and expand partnerships with local government, healthcare systems, philanthropic partners, and grassroots organizations.
    • Advocate at local, state, and federal levels for health policies that increase access and equity.
    • Handle day-to-day operations of GRSNC, including communication, coordination, and meeting facilitation.
    • Manage shared data initiatives and support data integration efforts across member organizations to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.
    • Represent the GRSNC in public forums, policy discussions, and media engagement as a trusted advocate for health justice.
    • Ensure future funding of GRSNC, with increasing focus on fundraising in year two and three and after.
    • Conduct or coordinate projects which will evolve over time.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in public health, health care, or related field.
    • Demonstrated leadership in coalition-building, systems-level change, or cross-sector collaboration.
    • Strong understanding of health equity, social determinants of health, and the needs of underserved communities.
    • Experience in fundraising, grant management, and government relations.
    • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to navigate complex political and institutional environments with tact and diplomacy.
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and community empowerment.
    • Experience with diverse populations.
    • Comfort with data and data analysis.

    Location & Reporting

This position is based at Daily Planet Health Services in Richmond, VA. This position is largely in person on site or in the community. Occasional remote work can be accommodated.

The CM will be supported by the CEO of Daily Planet for administrative needs and supervised by a four-member Steering Committee representing GRSNC's core sectors (free clinics, FQHCs, health systems, and public health).

Compensation includes a starting salary between $90,000 and $110,000 based on experience and attractive benefits.

To Apply Please send a cover letter, resume and three (3) references.

References will not be contacted until later in the process and with the candidate's knowledge.

    CONFIDENTIALITY

Throughout the search process, we will make every effort to maintain a high degree of confidentiality for all candidates. Both the consultant and GRSNC recognize that many candidates may be deeply committed to their current organizations but are intrigued by this opportunity.
