About the Role

As Special Projects Manager, you will lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of cross-functional initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness and mission delivery. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, as well as directly with the CEO on high-impact initiatives, you will ensure the seamless execution of projects that reflect our commitment to empowering youth and building community. This role requires adaptability, resilience, and the ability to navigate a dynamic work environment effectively.

Your ability to manage work produced by individual contributors and subject matter experts will be instrumental in advancing key initiatives. From signature events like the Conference on Women and Girls to major corporate partnerships with organizations such as Amazon and DC United, your work will directly support the next generation of leaders. Collaborating closely with a high-ranking executive offers unique opportunities and challenges, making this role ideal for candidates who thrive in dynamic environments and can adapt quickly to shifting priorities.

Your Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of cross-functional projects initiated by the Office of the CEO.
• Collaboration: Partner with internal departments (e.g., Development, Programs, Communications) and external stakeholders to define objectives, scope, and deliverables.
• Resource Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Communication: Prepare reports, presentations, and updates for leadership, funders, and stakeholders, showcasing project outcomes and impact.
• Problem-Solving: Monitor project performance, address roadblocks, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Relationship Building: Represent the organization in meetings with funders, corporate partners, and community leaders to build and sustain key relationships.

What You Bring

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4–6 years of experience in project management, operations, or a strategic role, preferably in the nonprofit or public sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven experience managing work produced by individual contributors or subject matter experts.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of cultural competence and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Google Workspace).

• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with nonprofit management, program evaluation, or grant compliance.
  • Experience in event planning or coordinating large-scale partnerships.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset.
  • Passion for social impact and alignment with our mission.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities.

Additional Requirements

• Occasional travel for project assignments or meetings within the Greater Washington, DC area. Access to reliable personal transportation is required.
• Availability for occasional evening and weekend commitments.

The starting salary range for this position is $76,000 - $80,000.
