    Anthos|Home is an innovative nonprofit transforming the way New Yorkers with housing subsidies locate and secure stable housing. Modeled after Brilliant Corners in California, we streamline the apartment search, approval, and move in process while addressing gaps in the NYC voucher system. Our mission is to be a gamechanger for New Yorkers who are unhoused or at risk of homelessness.

    The Role

    The Human Resources Support Specialist supports payroll, benefits, and employment compliance functions, working closely with the HR Generalist on all HR initiatives. You will help keep our systems audit ready, assist in processing semimonthly payroll, support benefits administration, and provide day to day people ops assistance and general administrative support, from employee relations logistics to helping build a structured internship program. You will also lend a hand in recruiting for critical roles and nurturing a small intern pipeline. Reporting to the HR Generalist, you will help safeguard data integrity, contribute to a positive candidate and employee experience, and ensure Anthos|Home remains compliant.

    Key Responsibilities

    Compliance & Data Integrity

    • Assist with I9 verification, background checks, and mandated documentation, maintaining 100 percent completion and accuracy.
    • Help ensure all federal, NY State, and NYC labor‑law postings are current and visible; track regulation changes and brief staff promptly.
    • Contribute to regular personnel‑file and data audits; help keep ATS and HRIS data pristine; assist in publishing monthly compliance dashboards for leadership.
    • Support company‑wide compliance training and maintain the policy library.
    • Assist in updating and maintaining the employee handbook and related policy documents.

    Payroll & Benefits Administration

    • Assist in processing semi‑monthly payroll and daily benefits transactions in Justworks or a similar PEO, ensuring accuracy and on‑time delivery.
    • Serve as a point of contact for benefits questions, enrollments, life‑event changes, claims, invoice reconciliation, and payroll reports.
    • Support annual benefits renewals, open enrollment, and the eventual migration to a new PEO or payroll system.

    People Operations & Culture Support

    • Support coordination of new‑hire orientation, 30‑60‑90‑day plans, surveys, and the onboarding buddy program to ensure strong starts.
    • Partner with the HR Generalist on staff trainings, cultural events, and engagement initiatives that build connection and engagement.
    • Serve as an active member of the Culture Committee, contributing ideas and helping coordinate organization‑wide engagement initiatives.
    • Maintain and improve HR policies, templates, and process documentation.

    Talent Acquisition & Internship Program

    • Support recruiting for critical roles when they arise,posting, sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and guiding offers.
    • Assist in developing and administering a structured internship program, including outreach to schools, candidate selection, onboarding, and program logistics.
    • Keep candidate pipelines current in the ATS and share concise status updates with hiring managers.
    • Other HR and administrative duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • 2–4 years of HR or recruiting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or high‑growth environment.
    • Hands-on experience supporting payroll and employee benefits (Justworks or similar PEO) and assisting platform transitions.
    • Ownership of I‑9, background checks, EEO‑1, or similar audits and compliance processes.
    • Working knowledge of NY State & NYC labor regulations.
    • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Warm, clear communicator who builds trust across teams and champions equity and inclusion.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Competitive starting salary: $65,000–$70,000 (dependent on experience).
    • Hybrid work environment (2-5 days in the office or in the field.)
