    Description

    The Outreach Coordinator works for both Farm Action and Farm Action Fund, reporting to the Government Affairs and Advocacy Director. The Coordinator assists with the development and execution of strategies to enhance the organizations’ visibility and community engagement. The role involves coordinating stakeholder groups, managing volunteers, and event planning in support of our policy agenda. The Coordinator will help ensure that the organizations are viewed as the primary information source and political leader within our diverse network, constituent base, and those we strive to influence.

    Responsibilities

    • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including but not limited to advocacy organizations, individual supporters, farmers, local businesses, and researchers
    • Coordinate organizational coalition and stakeholder groups to advance policy priorities
    • Coordinate the organizational grasstops volunteer program, including a dedicated Facebook group and bimonthly virtual meetings
    • Collaborate with the team to identify key messages and messengers, and gather compelling stories and perspectives
    • Work with the team to coordinate special projects and both in-person and virtual educational and advocacy events
    • Actively represent the organizations at local, state, and national meetings relevant to our mission, priorities, and agenda
    • Fulfill grant deliverables and contribute to grant proposals and grant reports
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Note: Travel will be required to fulfill these responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of food and agriculture system issues, particularly as they relate to rural communities, and a willingness to expand this knowledge as needed
    • Experience in synthesizing diverse stakeholder perspectives and organizing them toward a common policy objective
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities
    • Demonstrated capacity to work independently, coordinate projects, and effectively manage multiple priorities
    • Working knowledge of legislative and/or government decision-making processes
    • Public speaking experience

    Benefits

    A monthly $300 healthcare stipend is provided. Benefits include a four day work week, 15 days of leave with pay annually, eight days off for recognized holidays, and office closure for two weeks each around Fourth of July and Christmas.
